Rox,

OKcarla in our group usually has a lot of turkeys. She lives in Tuttle but works at Tinker. So she can deliver to Midwest City.
P&B is right, there aren't too many juvenile guineas around yet.
There is a man in Luther that runs an ad in the Oklahoman.
He usually has a lot of keets.
p.s. I am your neighbor I live south of Choctaw.

Hi P&B,

I slept late so I'm not sure if it rained this morning or not. Personally, I love this weather. I'm tired of not being able to walk through my yard, but I'm not a big fan of heat either. And give me a dark, overcast morning with some thunder in the background, and I'll show you how to sleep as late as possible.

I am with you on the weather. I am ready for the rain to stop but I am sure not ready for the heat.

I concur - a rainy day makes for WONDERFUL sleep - regardless of the time of day.

Prague auction is this weekend. i talked to a guy that works at Prague last week at Jones,
He said if you are looking for the best poultry you need to be there Friday morning before 8;00. It usually won't last til the auction.

I use an inexpensive electric candler that I bought from ??? (probably Strombergs or McMurry) for less than $10.

Haven't tried it, but I read that you can take a cardboard tube (toilet tissue or paper towel tube cut off) and put your flashlight on one end of the tube and the egg on the other end of the tube, to candle the egg.

I have tried using a small LED flashlight held directly against the end of the egg, but the head on my flashlight is about as big around as a quarter and there is too much light coming out around the egg for it to work well on chicken eggs..... works pretty well on turkey eggs.

I am trying to figure out how to candle quail eggs

The best one I have seen was a 100 watt bulb. You saw cut a 1 1/2" hole in a large tomato can and run the bulb inside. Then set the egg on the hole in the can... It was cool....

I agree with CleoChick, the maglite is the best ... this one is really the best ... for sure get the 3 watt led bulb. I candle my marans eggs with one ... can't see the veins, but definitey can see if they're developing or not.

I paid more for mine at Walmart than Amazon ... so I recommend Amazon. If you spend more than $25 on certain items ... shipping is free on it ... and no tax! I buy my digital thermometers from Amazon, too.
