Okay, I should probably explain

I have been going through this contest (for days!!!) where we are answering questions about BYC and poultry mainly. Here is the link to that - click
Well, now the OP decided to let any BYC member vote for who should receive some bonus points. He said, "It does not matter who you vote for... You can vote on anyone for any reason, because you are her/his friend, because you like her/him, because she/he is friendly, etc..."
So, there it is

$100 is a good price on a hive if the bees are doing well and don't have major mite issues. Yes, you generally move the hive at night, because that is when all the field bees are in the hive. You put window screen across the bottom entrance so there will be some ventilation but the bees can't come out, then you duct tape or nail the lid on the top and duct tape the different boxes together. I have moved Nucs, which are small hives with only one piece to them - in the back of my van. A hive the size of the one in that picture should go in the back of a truck or on a trailer.

You place the hive where you want it at night and in the morning, the bees will re-orient themselves to the new location and you are all set.

I agree with CleoChick, the maglite is the best ... this one is really the best ... for sure get the 3 watt led bulb. I candle my marans eggs with one ... can't see the veins, but definitey can see if they're developing or not.

http://www.amazon.com/MAGLITE-SP230...ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1242168242&sr=8-3

I paid more for mine at Walmart than Amazon ... so I recommend Amazon. If you spend more than $25 on certain items ... shipping is free on it ... and no tax! I buy my digital thermometers from Amazon, too.

http://www.amazon.com/TAYLOR-1523-O...1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1242168700&sr=8-1

And if you buy both the maglight and the thermometer at the same time, you are at $26.82 and qualify for free shipping.

Thanks, Carla. I do most of my shopping on Amazon. I use it so much that I have a Prime account. I can avoid the store, compare differnt brands and prices and have it delivered to the front door free of charge within 2 days.

Graceful, thanks for telling us about the contest and giving us the chance to vote for you. I didn't take the time to read all the comments, but it was obvious that you have made friends in states other than Oklahoma. Congratulations!

You are correct - the Prague auction is this Friday and Saturday, the 15th and 16th. The auction starts at 11:00 on Friday and at 10:00 on Saturday.

That's great Les , I'm glad for you. You should get some dandies out of those , especially if you are using the rooster that you got at Shawnee. Since we last visited I have acquired some 1/2 Bantam Shamo x 1/2 Ko Shamo. I mated them with Bantam Shamo and the chicks look spectacular. They are going to be smaller than the regular Bantam Shamo and typey as all get out. Richard

It is about four miles north of Prague on hwy 99.
If you are coming from the south throuigh Prague you have to go past it and then turn around and come back to it. It is on the West side of the highway. If you are coimg South from Stroud it will be on your right.
I have been told by a very reliable source that a lot of the best poultry is snatched up early on Friday before it even gets checked in. They start checking stuff in at 8:eek:o a.m.
