Thanks

Here is the way I looked at it -
I should destroy the eggs, if for no other reason than, the fact that I have a "good name to uphold" and I would not want people to worry about -my- birds!
It was a sacrifice, but it had justification......

I guess

You got it girlfriend!!!

Looks like I'm gonna have to hand turn then...How many times per day? How far? 1/2 turn? 1/4 turn? Jeez I could not hit water if I fell out of a boat. So much for good hatching juju..... crud.

Henny I think the turners do it about 3 or 4 times a day.

Grace, im very sorry to hear about your egg issue. Thank god the seller had enough guts to email you and let you know what was going on, im sure he/she is having a tough time after destroying there flock. YOu had me rolling earlier by the way, when you said your always available for pickup

Ronnie, how often do ya put water in? How do you do that... do I pull all the eggs out in the rack to pour the water in? What about opening the incubator... can I open it as long as they are not hatching? Thanks.

You need a hydromter to know when to add water. You can open the bator but doing so loses what humidity you have in there. I only open it to add water and candle eggs or take out of the egg turner for the longest 3 days of your life. You can get the hydromter at walmart in the outdoor themometer sectin for less than 7$ from springfield precision.

Oh you can just tilt the turner up and be careful so you dont dump eggs out and add water to the trough. I usualy just squirt water in there between the egg racks though. If you need to realy bring up the humidity like for your hatching, and its nto high enough you wet a sock or dish towel and put it in there. I even glued a straw through a 20oz bottle lid so i could add water through the plug hole right down between the egg racks without opening the bator.

Well I ordered my incubator this week and suppose to get it by Friday!!!

Well I dont have enough eggs to fill it and was wandering if the eggs I got today will still be good come tomorrow or Friday or if I should just start with fresh eggs the day that I get the bator??? I am suppose to get some Bantam eggs and Polish eggs on Saturday so if there are any pointers that anyone can give me for a first timer it would be greatly appreciated.. Oh and I got the Auto turner also...

Well John (wingman) got us a storm shelter. And tonight the condtions are favorable for us to be hopping in it. I hope we NEVER have to use it but it is nice "insurance".
I moved babies outside today and I really hope things go well with the weather.

So whats the plans for Memorial Weekend?? Who's going to what auction??
Al I have 2 cabinets that I need to get to you. I had good intentions of making incubators out of them but baseball has taken over our lives!!

Yes they should be fine,Don't put them in the frig. if you have them in a carton just raise one end tonight and in the morning let that end down and raise the other end..until you get the bator up and running..everything should be fine
