Any suggestions for keepin the chicks from getting beneath the hatching tray? I had two under there this afternoon and I think they splayed their legs by being in such a short space for awhile.
My hatching tray doesn't go to the closed door so there is about 3 inches of space for the chicks to fall off the hatching tray, into the space between tray and the door and then crawl beneath the hatching tray.

Hi everyone, does anyone know of someone that might have a mille fleur roo that lives down around the city. We're here visiting our daughter and we can't find one back home. Carla is supposed to check her chickens to see if she has one but just in case I would love to locate one before we go home. We have three hens and I need a roo.

Thanks,

Donna

I wonder if there is any advantage to having the hatching tray with about 2 inches of space beneath it? Other than making it easier to slide the eggs out, I wonder if I could just set the cardboard flat on the bottom of the incubator, so the new hatches couldn't get "lost" behind and beneath the hatching tray. Since I put the eggs into a cardboard egg flat for hatching, I lose any benefit of air circulating under the wire hatching screen (and it also keeps the shells and hatching goo inside the cardboard flat instead of all over the hatching tray) The cardboard egg flats make it much easier to clean up after a hatch.

Yes, that was probably a record amount for a chicken that wasn't a champion at some major poultry show. I really think there were just two bidders who wanted the hen for some reason and neither was willing to quit bidding. I don't even understand what was "special" about her.

There was a very nice mille de fleur rooster at the Blanchard auction last night. It sold for about $13 and then the hen it was with sold for about $8

The Lexington auction is Monday night. When are ya'll going home?
