Chick #2 has arrived, another black

A few aint pipped but its day 19. I went ahead and candled after my last hatch having so many DIS, but they was kicking so I left them be.

Many more pips and peeps, I love hatching

Polish from Monty are beutiful but no eggs yet....

Stray... get some electrolytes and put it the water then administer with an eyedropper....They are stressed and dehydrated... make sure they are warm and don't handle too much until they stabilize....Sorry about your losses... been there, done that.


Edited to add... make sure you watch and keep the chick upright as you give them drops so they don't drown.....go slowly...

Oh, Tara I just thought of something. Weren't you going to help get those three Langshan chicks to Mikayla at the Jacob's Cave swap? She said she would just try to drive down here and get them, but she has not been able to yet, so now I might as well just wait till the swap meet since it's only a week away.
If you are willing to do that (and if it's what she still wants

) we'll have to plan some meeting time/place and you can get those Turkens, too

Tara, I just looked over my Turken chicks, and here is what I have

Black - large BT
Black w/slight Red on head - large BT
Black - BT, clean on craw
Blue - two tiny BT tufts
Blue - small tuft of BT
Blue - small BT
Splash - average BT
Splash - average BT
Splash - big BT, clean on craw
Splash - large BT, clean on craw

I think I came up with too many Splashes.....I might have mistaken some lighter Blues for Splash....?

I know I will be keeping these:
Black - large BT
Black - BT, clean on craw
Blue - small BT
Splash - average BT
Splash - large BT, clean on craw

7 out of 15 so far. 2 Are just about out. Got a few without peeps but still kickin in the shell, slackers

Tommarow i got about 45 eggs that need to go in the hatcher, might have to put them in a day late to let these guys finish up!

That is so true, But you know my laying flock will be replenished this year, I hope, and I also hope to have a few birds left over. And I would like to see more then just one or two of them at shows. So if I can re-home a few with show potential.....
