I tried a method that a man told me about and I have read about it on BYC also. You put the chick on its back in the palm of your right hand... Cover the chick with your left hand until the chick stops struggling... Lift your left hand up... If the chick jumps right up or struggles it is a roo... If the chick just lays there it is a pullet.

I tried it on 19 RIR chicks. They were toe punched for ID. I wrote the results down in a tablet. Out of 19, I had 16 sexed right. Don't know if it was just luck or if it really works until I try again. Might be totally different next time.

Is anyone going to Cement tonight? Trying to decide if I want to go or not. Also contemplating going and buying a baby peafowl. One or the other or a nap might be good. Heck I could do all three. Nap first maybe.

PS Does anyone want some Lair Tail Mollies aquarium fish? We had two fish hatch out babies. Everyone told us that the adults eat the babies, well ours didn't and we have almost thirty baby fishes that are going to need a home soon or our aquarium will be looking like a sardine can soon. These babies are actually kinda cute. Not as cute as chicks but still cute. They are fresh water tropicals and if anyone is interested they are going for the reasonable sum of *FREE*. Still struggling with the bug whatever it is....I would have died already but they can't find a hole big enough to bury me in! The headache and fever make me feel horrible!

Okies will do ..............I didnt think Cement was tonight. Isnt it the 1st Sat of the month. Could be wrong.................but not thinking there is an auction for poultry tonight Well except for the exotic one in Prague.

The Cement auction is not today!!!!!, it is always held on the first Saturday of every month, so the next one will be on the 4th of July. I will call the guy's who run it and find out if they are going to have it or not. My guess is these folks who run the Cement auction are not the pack up the sea-do's and head to the lake for the 4th type folks, so yeah they will probably be selling chickens when the fireworks are popping.

Hi all! I hope everyone is having a good week-end. I have a friend with a flock of New Hampshire Reds. Well it seems mr. roo is not ahem 'doing his job' so they are looking for a new rooster.

Ladyokie - I think Al has New Hampshire Reds. He lives at
Elgin, sw of OKC.

We have a few, but they are some of the kids' show birds.

Well, Pa-Pa talked the kids out of one of his Father's Day presents.
I swear, he's worse than the kids. So, his new 8' Wind Mill is
"spinning it's rear off" out there in the wind today.....LOL

Henny - I'm wondering if you aren't reacting to some "major"
overheating..... Can cause the same symptoms. Please take
care and stay in through the heat of the day. Can be some
serious stuff !

Bill's Uncle Jack called earlier and had been up to Afton to the
flea market this morning. Said there were lots of birds and very
few buyers. He came home with 8, month-old, Black Spanish
turkies for $40 !
