Carla some of the Saipan eggs we got from Troy are not exactly on the pure side. One of them has a topknot, five toes and black blotches on it's skin.

If it was a Silkie rooster that crossed a Saipan hen then that was one determined rooster!!

Okiechick, I work at Tinker, so could meet you on the way to work someday if there's something you want. I do have some spitz chicks that are about 6 weeks old that I might be talked into selling a couple of .... was keeping them to replenish my flock, but the one's with too much feathering on their heads will have to sell.

nnbreeder, yeah, Monty and I were discussing Troy's hatching eggs before. Monty said someone takes care of Troy's chickens for him .... so no telling how old the eggs are or what rooster might have visited what pen. Oh well, my birds do lay dark eggs. I did buy some cuckoo marans eggs from him too, so possibly these are cuckoo/golden salmon crosses.

Cool! They sure do! Well, maybe if I keep these birds, I'll try to breed for lighter colored hens. I need to get feathered shanks on them too, since it appears the American standard is going to mimic the French standard.

Those hens look similar to the Welsummer hens, don't they?

Les,
I got a pm from a lady in Pennsylvania about GS Marans.

Carla, Our dear friend Jack has them but he swears that they hatch in three colors. The lady I have been talking to said that is just not the case. That pure GS Marans will just be one color. I won't contradict Jack but I tend to believe what the lady was telling me about the colors.
Jack got his start from Troy.

Whew! I just got caught up on Okie posts, and now I must go to bed. I've been busy on a project and won't be around much for a couple of weeks....wah! I miss you guys!

Sorry about the coon getting your birds, Al.

Stimpy, thanks - between your jokes and Monty's asking you what kind of envelopes you use, I got my laughs in for the day - I needed 'em!

Good night!

Al,

I love long walks. Especially when they are taken by people who annoy me !

Monty I have one red rooster that is still fairly young so he has some growing to do. The only thing wrong with him is that he has a single side sprig on his comb which is genetic and a DQ if you are planning on showing. He has no bow-tie which is unusual because he is out of a RIR rooster and a black NN hen. I will get my hands on him tomorrow and check him out a little better.
