If I was just going to order that few I wouldn't worry with a hatchery unless you are looking for a specific breed you can't find anywhere else.
Check at Farmer's Feed store in Sapulpa. They will probably start getting their chicks in pretty soon. You might be able to get them to order just what you want and then they can sell the rest of them through the store.
As for Hens for your dad, I have a solution and a plan. I have some production Red laying hens that are for sale for $10 each. The catch is is that I am near OKC.
So if you are coming this way or if he can wait a few weeks until I come to Henryetta/Okmulgee I could bring them and meet you.
The other thing would be to check at the feed store to see if they have any postings on their board for hens or ask them if they know anyone in your area that might have some for sale.
There is also a lady near Chandler that sells poultry periodically and she will deliver to the Tulsa area.
I will pm message you and give you her email address.

I was just gonna let everyone know that the big auction in Prague is the 18th and 19th.
They sell polutry starting on Saturday morning but if you are their on Friday you can buy stuff as it is brought in.
Also the "Chupps Auction" in Inola is the first Saturday of each month but I don't know when they do the poultry.

I'm behind on this thread! J Family, I can hatch you some chicks in the spring. Or sell you eggs, if you want to try hatching yourself. But all I will have is Standard Buff Orpingtons and Bantam Dark Brahmas. And I'm in south central OK, so that may be too far for you.

Monty, do they usually have lots of good stuff on Friday? What time do they start bringing birds in on Friday? Do they usually sell alot on Friday? Anything that might be SQ? Where's it at? I wanna go!!! *haha*

I have never been on Friday but I have been told that most of the "good" chickens are bought on Friday outside and never see the auction ring on Saturday. The last time I was there, they had very few chickens but sold about 100 peaocks.
It is an exotic sale and you find everything there from Anacondas to Zebras. I know they have some camels to sell at the one coming up.
I have contacts with a man that works there some and I am going to try and catch him and see if it is worth coming over on Friday.
The auction site is four miles north of Prague on the west side of the highway.
I hope to go on Saturday (19th) if my son doesn't have a Basketball game in the AM.
P.S. I just happened to catch that you are getting

married

. Is that because you caught mono? Also is this guy a "Chicken MAN" ?
You haven't brought him to meet your (chicken) family yet. So you probably shouldn't marry him until we all have had the chance to give him the once over. Heck, I don't even know what kind of chickens he likes, if any.

Totally agree ...........we should have a chance to look him over like we did the critters at the Shawnee show

HA! You guys are awesome.

And no, its not because I got mono. *ha* He's a cattle man, but helps out with the chickens. And he got me a big ring. And he's a cop. So I wouldn't worry about 'approving.'

An exotic animal auction, that sounds... kinda scary. I would love to go on Friday, I'm really wanting more chickens. (Who doesnt?) I don't think I could find anybody to go with me though, and I'm not about to spend 50 bucks a bird.

Country have you ever gone to the anadarko thurday market. I have been told they usualy have chickens however the woman that told me about it said she will not go alone cause sometimes the people at this one scare her.

I didn't even know Anadarko had one! And today is Thursday!! Where at and what time? Anadarko itself is kinda scary. But most of my dad's side of the family lives there.

I live about 30 minutes from Anadarko.

Luvz, where are you located? It would be cool if we could all meet up and go sometime. Do they have alot of birds?

I am in Fort Smith and so wished I didn't live in city limits!

Flying Squirrel is not far from you. Just north of Alma.

I am going to Mary's flea Market on Saturday.Mainly to see what is there and to get a feel of what the "ChickenStock Market" is doing. If prices are up then I might take some birds there the next week or take some to Prague.
