yeah so I must now be on my best behavior, Most of the times at our local auctions the birds do not get labeled unless the seller does it, and then if not the auction callers or ring guy's will get them wrong most of the time if they are not the run of the mill or breed variations.

Hey Quenston, yep I can work on getting you birds tested AFTER I order supplies. I am the Queen of procrasitnation!! We will chat tomorrow when you take home that lovely camper!!

We are regulated on what we do with our animals, horses have to have Coggins test and health papers before transport or sale, cows are BANGS tested, chickens or NPIP tested goats and sheep are CA/CL tested. We just choose to have the Okie attitude and

My sister moved to NH from here and it is a different hurried type of life. I stay here, thank you.

This night stuff is for the owls!

Well now that it has been brought up Teva and I will have our NPIP testing equipment with us at the next POOPS. So if you want to add birds to an existing NPIP flock from one that isn't we will test them and give the cert. to you.

sooner- yes, when i got the pair, they h ad refused to come out of the coop, so the gal wasn't aware of a problem, they were andrea's. When i got them, the little one could barely stand and would hide under the splash roo. Can't afford to take her to the vet- so am trying to do all i can to help her- wonder if extra calcium would help?

We went to a farm equipment auction yesterday and had a good day. Bid on a couple of trailers, but I was looking for too much of a bargain, I guess.

I did pick up a 150 gallon water container with spigot in a steel cage. The plan is to pump pond water into it and use that to irrigate my garden next year using a gravity fed system.

The tough economy has hit home. My brother, who everyone thought had a super secure job (heavy equipment mechanic) was laid off down in DFW this week. But this will give us a chance to spend time together. He is going to come up in a couple of weeks and build (he's also a carpenter by training) my super-duper heavy duty extra secure chicken coop using one of my outbuildings as Al suggested. He's also going to put all my vehicles in superb working order. It's always nice to have a brother with skills.

We had a really good visit last night, sitting under the trees in the back yard and watching the sun set over the pond, talking about old times. I'm sad he lost his job, but I'm glad we're able to get together for a while.

I am more than willing to do so if it becomes necessary.

I have to say, the behavior of some folks in this thread has been absolutely deplorable. I can't believe the unkind things some of the Staff and I have had to remove from here in the past day and a half.

BYC is not an elitist place. We're here to help each other out and provide support and encouragement. Chickenstocks are not a competition. I am sorry some people are not providing good leadership for our new members like The Barn Swallow in the way they should be.

If anything, some of you risk damaging the reputation of the OK Chickenstock with your elitist, critical comments of other Chickenstocks. You don't make yourselves look better by putting down others.

Try to assume that most people are doing the best they can with the resources and the limitations they have. If you can't do that, then don't post.

Thanks.

Well, I am finally home from that dreaded night shift!! I had a can of tuna for breakfast

if I had known thatwas the only thing in the house for breakfast I would have stopped somewhere and got something. I met John on my way in and he promised to pick something up for Shaun to eat besides tuna.

I would like to make a public apology to all that may have been offended by any comments that may been made here. The Okies I have meet at our gatherings would by no means mean any harm.
I can not see anyone of us having an eliitist or critical attitude, and I am truly sorry that it was taking as such.
I wish that everyone could meet our Okie BYC'ers to understand what a caring group this really is and that it was never REALLY anyones intention to offend someone.

With that said, I am off to bed for a few hours. I had a really rough night and I hope to get a few wonderful hours of blissful sleep and the hopefully see Quenston to get a camper outta my yard and Queen Scoot to get rid of some eggs!!

Love you ALL!!
Neecy

P.S.
Does eating tuna before bed give you bad dreams?

morning everyone! looks like hot again today, sigh, i really detest august- have a BA pullet limping, so she is in isolation for the day- umm- the spare bathroom- the silkie seems to be doing the same- thinking i need to put asprin in the water for her? have a good day all!

Could she have had a slipped tendon? You might post this to DCT, as far as I know there is none better with orthopedic problems with poultry.

I think this also contains DCT's e-mail but if you e-mail be sure to put poultry help or something like that in the subject line.

Just a quick thank you to the folks in this thread.

This is my favorite spot in the entire BYC forum. I check here before I check anywhere else. I have learned more practical information on raising chickens and other fowl for eggs and meat from this thread and the people in it than the entire rest of the forum combined. It was from you I learned the best places to get my birds. It was from you that I learned how to process them (I mean really learned). And it was from you I learned the special conditions of effectively raising fowl in the great state of Oklahoma, especially in the area of weather and predator protection.

Not to mention the sense of friendship and camaraderie that I find here. It makes me feel as though I have been welcomed into someone's very large extended family to be included among you.

So, thanks to all of you. I may not make it to POOPS due to the vagaries of scheduling at my place of work, but my heart will be with you. But then, I feel I am with you any time I click on and read this thread.

Love you all, and thank you.
