Okies in the BYC The Original

OK I give up the sun was shining so I went outside to start building fence and 5 minutes later it started raining came back in I no more than stepped in the door and it quit, so of course I went back outside got one fence post done and then the down pour came!!! So I think that someone is telling me something so I am done for the night!!!!

Anyone on this thread know of a Foss OK? Just curious because I am told this is the small town where my grandpa was born. I have seen pics from when he was a kid which was from 1918-1920 or so and man it sure looked like a tuff place to live. Nothin but dirt and dust!

WOW!!! I am truely amazed. Thank you for the replies. It is hard to believe that the town he came from that was practically nothing then is still that way today. I am going to call my nana who is 92 years young to tell her this news. I am sure she hasnt heard anything about OK for a long time now. My grandpa used to tell me stories about what is was like living there as a child and I could not even imagine growing up in times like those. I wish I had some of the pictures to show you guys. I am going to try and get some from nana and post them. I definetely have okie blood in me

My buddies grandpa was an old okie boy too. He was from Kingfisher I believe the name was. Anyone framiliar with that town?

Birthplace of Sam Walton and the only cemetery in the country where outlaws (Daltons) and an ex-gov. are buried within spitting distance of each other.

Kingfisher was named for a gambler. King Fisher that shortly after the run owned most of the town. Hmmm wonder if he cheated at cards?
