thanks i've had a great week of hatching.. i hatched 32 guinea eggs out of 40 and so far 15 ducks out of 23 and for sure have 5 pipping... not a bad week .. plus 2 stray rhode island red eggs in there somewhere.. the guineas were like the ducks all different colors.. one white to lavender.. lots of white faces and all super healthy..

Hey sundowner - I don't know anything about ducks, but I searched in the "Ducks" forum on BYC and found this thread - I'm sure there are more if you look for them! (It sounds like medicated chick starter is BAD for ducklings.)

I usually feed my ducks chick starter. I've hatched a lot of ducks out and they always stay healthy. I'm certainly no expert and others may tell you something different to feed them. But mine have done fine. Congratulations on your hatches.

Don't feed them the medicated chick starter, it can kill them. Just use the plain starter.

Looks like I'm all by myself

, no night owls. Good news, I'm finally getting some eggs for from the spring hatched pullets. So far white leghorn and Welsummer or Cuckoo Maran. The rest are still free loaders.
