Hey Everyone! I have been off for months and I hope everyone is doing well.

I have a question, I have a broody barred rock bantam cochin and she only has one teensy egg to sit on, does anyone have fertile eggs that she could have? It would have to be local to the Tulsa/Sapulpa area.

Thanks,

Andrea

Robin- How are the Silkies doing? I haven't been able to read the board in a long time.

Does anyone have any hints about sexing ameraucanas? I have been kinda going by size and leg length... combs are impossible. They just know I have issues because I am staring at them all the time. Hackle feathers?

I believe the hold back on LS-50 is 14 days from the last dose, if they are just sneezing why don't you just rub some VetRX on there combs & wattles and a dab under the wings. This has worked for me in the past when they get the SNARKIES LOL henny's new medical terms.

AL

14 days!!!

The only thing VetRX has ever done for me is stink up the coop. I hate medicating them....I really think it is connected with the weather some how....Does that mean I have weak hens?

Maybe I should let it go and go with the survival of the fittest theory..... any thoughts OKies?

Henny I am having some of the same problems although I don't thin k its respiratory this this time. It does seem like everytime we get a little damp weather they start drooping.
I am gonna worm all of my birds six weeks and older except for the main layers. I will worm them a bit later.
I waffle on the survivor of the fittest theory because those that survive can be carriers.
The hard thing about chickens is that they can have the same symptoms for a host of problems.
I think Les is the man when it comes to disease control. I am very interested in what he will be presenting at POOPS.
Henny we can just watch and see how the Blue Roo group does between now and POOPS.

Nope. The Tiger Safari isn't missing anything. We live in the area that this is happening. Maybe that critter is what tore up my German Shepherd this spring. He had multiple large cuts on him and bleeding badly. Had to have lots of stiches and staples to close up some really nasty gashes & only cost around $500 at the vet. I know we have large packs of coyotes running around every night. I hear them howling.

Have you turned into a lurker or just been AWOL?

Lurking, mostly. Been busy at work.

I will have a load of mixed bantam chicks to bring with me to POOPS. They're out of OEGB, Sebright, Silkie, Half Japs (that make full japs when crossed?), Brahma, Cochin, and mixes of the afore mentioned breeds.

Yes, this is unbelievably terrible - it's been all over the news for a while now. I hope they catch that freak, and soon.
