Snap your post gave me a well needed chuckle this morning. Most folks buy for purpose than for show or cause they like something. They probably don't even know what they are looking at. Good that you POd them.
Les, I really appreciate your input. This is so maddening. I try tio make sure everything is clean, but not too clean...if ya know what I mean. My straw is pretty old....and it is really dusty. I wish I could blame it on that, but the Snarkies started before I opened up the bale. It started when we got that cool down last weekend. I have given up trying to fix them. Some are just weak maybe and the temperature change was too much for them? My Pollack is still hanging in there... I have way too many chickens right now...left over from spring and hatching....maybe they are overcrowded as well. It is not MG at least from what I have seen of MG...Just seems like an allergy that gets them down then they fade away. Eyes are not involved. Lung, sometimes. They are up pecking and scratching.....just snarking all the time....I don't know if medicating is such a great idea. Last night considered culling. But everyone is exposed at this point and it seems kinda pointless if I can fix em. The dust in the coop was bad when I cleaned it. I am amazed at the dander.....it is everywhere on the droppings boards in the mornings. I have been sweeping it off the last few mornings. I shot the bad ones up with Tylan yesterday. And they are on electrolytes with probiotics in it. Just gotta ride it out I guess.
Yesterday was a tough day. My Mom's roomate passed away. Another lady was in the rest home with her daughter. The Mom passed away also and they jsut found out the daughter has 6-10 weeks to live becasue she has brain cancer. It was just the saddest thing. I got my boo-hoo out of the way Al. One of my big roosters let me cry on his shoulder last night. Big ole barred rock fella...One of the eggs Mrs Squeaky hatched. I think I am going to keep him. He seems to be a decent sort and minds the south coop guys while Rex minds the north coop.
