CleoChick - I'm so sorry for your loss - what a blow to your cluck operation. I hope losing the dog as well doesn't weigh too heavily on your family's minds. Teach is a sweetie to bring you replacements from POOPS. I've a feeling his vehicle will be loaded down!

I have driven past the Cleo Springs turnoff of Hwy 412 a few times this summer and I think of you every time! I am glad to know the little one is doing well - You must be even more busy now, so I was happy to see your post. Thanks for the update, and again - sorry...

Thanks. I do have some guilt about the dog, but this is the second time she dug into what I thought was a dog proof set up. not only that, she got out of her pen that was "escape proof" to do it. She was given to us last year and came from a hunting operation. So she wasn't a pet. All in all it was a pretty horrible morning.
Teach has been very kind to offer to help in my addiction and now replenishment of my flock. I really wanted to go to POOPS, but with a 2 month old that nurses, I didn't think it would be a good time for everyone. Then my husband told me he had a roping he HAD to go to on Saturday and then my NBHA district scheduled a barrel race for Sunday in Woodward. Just too many things going on.

Hi Ya'll,

Just got back from Atwoods here in Claremore. Never thought it would happen but my Maria bought 2 ducks??? What the heck is she gonna do with 2 ducks??? We don't even have a pond on our land, what should I do about that, kiddy pool??

Sorry, I don't know anything about baby ducks. Do I need to keep them in a brooder box under a light like I'm going with my chicks?

Matt

ps. Can I let them swim in the bathtub!?!?

Baby ducks are fun, but very, very messy. They need to be brooded like chicks. I would do them separately if at all possible. Feed them non medicated starter. They do not need a place to swim right now. As they get feathered out, you can offer them a place to swim. Did I say they were messy...LOL

I just sent Cleochick a pm with the birds I'll propably be selling at POOPS ... if anyone else is interested in anything ????

I can probably sell some turken hens, $15 ea, maybe even a red frizzle turken for $20

I'll take a look at my marans hens, but I do have 4 white marans pullets that have begun laying. My white marans rooster died so I either need to find a replacement or sell the white marans ... $20 each. I also have 3 or 4 black copper marans that aren't laying dark enough eggs to suit me ... they will be $20 each. I may sell a few cuckoo marans hens that don't have feather legs for $20 each.

On turkeys, we could sell one year old blue slate tom for $30, or we have some young turkeys that are around 3 or 4 months old for $20 each. I also have 2 black spanish that are about 6-8 weeks old for $12 each, along with blue slates that are the same age, or some older for $15 each. I may even have some hatching soon for $8 each. We also have narragansett and possibly some bourbon red poults, maybe even a few royal palm too. I just haven't counted what we have available ... but surely we have some out there.

We have baby guineas for $3 each, and some up to 8 weeks old for $6 each. White, lavendar and pearl.

I have some blue laced red wyandotte pullets I might sell, but only those that don't have the best color. $12 each

Silkies .... under a month old, $4 each up to adult $12-15 each

Eggs .... turken (all 3 roosters are frizzle in the turken pen), cuckoo marans, silkie, guinea, brabanter, spitzhauben

And, I intend to sell out of my welsummers ... hens $15, rooster $10

Other roosters available from all my birds.

Oh, and I have some Egyptian Fayoumi chickens available too.

I may think of some other birds later. Oh yeah, I also have several bantam chicken breeds now too ... cochin, mille fleur d'uccle .... many others.

I've got to run now. Gerald's taking me out to eat

Dude....
Cute baby ducklings almost hypnotized me at Atwoods last week. Those things are DANGEROUS! (and messy, so I hear!)

Baby ducks are beyond cute, but they are messy. Not like chicks aren't, but... I personally love goslings. I would love to have some Sebastopols. Haven't found any close and when I decided to order them, everyone was out of them for the year.
