Baby ducks are fun, but very, very messy. They need to be brooded like chicks. I would do them separately if at all possible. Feed them non medicated starter. They do not need a place to swim right now. As they get feathered out, you can offer them a place to swim. Did I say they were messy...LOL

Ok, so I have them in their own brooder box with a light. Maria bought them their own waterer and chick feeder. The guy at Atwoods said to start them on game bird food so she got some of that. I dunno, they seem just fine in there playing in the waterer and eating the game bird food so I guess all is well.

When they get older will they do well in the coop with the chickens or do I need to come up with something else for them??

Hey CleoChick, I have a Cuckoo Maran rooster that I hatched around Memorial Day. He is the American variety, no feathered-feet. He got third place at the Cleveland County Fair. I call him Traumatize because after we give him a bath, he justs sits in the dry-off cage with his neck feathers all a-fluff and looking like he was struck by lightning.

Well, I raised three ducks separately from my Chickens and last night when they went in together for the first time in 3 1/2 months because we just brought them back from the fair, it was a little tense, but they stayed away from each other and if one got too close, they would chase each other. It was actually kind of funny. I'm sure they would get used to each other

How's everyone doing?

I haven't been on in a while because like so many others, I haven't been feeling all that well. I've had no flu-like symptoms, just severe migraines.

I finally got the kids school pictures back last week. If you remember, I was having trouble getting washable haircolor out of my daughter's hair. Well the picture shows no pink or blue.

And here are the pictures of my kids. . . enjoy!

I don't think so. She's my little miracle baby. She goes nowhere without me. I even check up on her at school. I watch through the window in the door while she's playing or coloring.

Momma's just a little protective of that one. I've been through H**L getting here with her.

Thanks. They are generally good kids. I wouldn't trade either for the world.

Ok, well... would take a duck, two chicks, a hangin feeder, and a brooder light? Seems more than fair to me....

Not really, cute kiddos you have there. I really loved having ours around the house but then they grew up and off they went. Now we have something even better, Grandkids!!
