You have Turkens?! My DH wants some. I was thinking about letting him have them.

If you want to get rid of them let me know. You should have my number and you know where I live.

we raise them (babies or $4.00). I what to help her out on her loss.

I completely understand that. I never intended on getting them for free.

I'll talk to him about buying some if you have any extras available. If I had anything to offer, I would. No one wants my chickies.

I still have 14 chicks and 14 keets. I can't give these away. Oh well, I can keep them throught the winter and sell them as layers next spring.

luv2bememaw - I really hope you get to feeling better, that does sound like the flu. When I had the flu it was nonstop pain and fever, and severe head congestion. No other symptoms like most people say. I've heard the swine flu is kinda the same way, wears people out.

mmizell - Us Okies are a riot, aren't we!

Monty - Sorry to hear you're still not feeling up to speed.

Grace - How did your birds do???

Delawaregirl - Congrats on your fair win!

smfamf - Cute kiddos! The girlie's hair looks just fine, blonde as can be.

I'm watching Bill Engvall, he's talking about buying free range chicken. He says he took history, he never read about the herds of wild chickens that were being hunted.

Hope everyone gets to feelin better soon! I think the weird weather change has got everyone feelin a little yucky.

We actually had about a 4 hour break in the rain, so we went fishin again! Caught some pretty perch, hubby caught a bass and a cat. Chili time now!

Thanks. They are generally good kids. I wouldn't trade either for the world.

Ok, well... would take a duck, two chicks, a hangin feeder, and a brooder light? Seems more than fair to me....

Not really, cute kiddos you have there. I really loved having ours around the house but then they grew up and off they went. Now we have something even better, Grandkids!!

I didn't dig a pond. I use a wading pool and a black deal I got from Lowes, they use them to mix cement in. They will be fine with that. lol

I might take the trade on my son today. . .

He is extremely smart but no common sense. He scored a perfect 4.0 on state tests but can't figure out that the eggs the hens are setting on are to be left alone. I have 2 RIR hens that went broody 3 weeks ago. They are setting on guinea eggs that are about ready to hatch. My son seen two eggs laying there today and brought them in the house. By the time I realized what they were, the keets had died. Both of the kids know that they are not allowed to touch the eggs, period. I am so upset.

**************Count Down **********************

Hi everyone as you know the fall P.O.O.P.S will be Sept. 26th. It has been decided that we would have a Pot luck lunch & dinner! We are looking for foods that are just as good cold as they are hot.

We will have limited outlets for crock pots if that is something you might be interested in. We will also have limited space to keep things cool between lunch and dinner, so if you bring something that needs to be kept cool make arrangements for that. For some folks that travel you could possibly have your ingredients made and put them together on site. Keep in mind the number of people that will be attending when making your dish or dishes.

We will also need paper goods, silverware & drinks. I have a couple of large igloo coolers that can be used for tea & kool-aid. If you have an one we could use let me know. I will need volunteers for set up before each meal along with volunteers for clean up after.

Please contact (PM) myself or TJ’s Nana if you have any questions or if you need a suggestion as to what you can bring. I will keep a running list of items.

Volunteer’s to help set up & clean up (will set times later

If you are hatching in a foam incubator, I found that putting a ring of socks/t-shirt around the edge of the incubator did two things. It kept the mess of the hatching off the side of the incubator and it kept the chicks from getting a foot caught between the hardware cloth on the bottom of the incubator and the side of the incubator. Also, when I want to increase the humidity during the hatch, I can soak the fabric in hot water before adding it to the incubator and that brings up the humidity.
