You know what is weird is that they are all the same breed EE's what is the deal. They are healthy and happy and then dead. I have another puney one this morning and I can't find the problem. I have cleaned the coop and put fresh wood shavings (pine) fresh food, cleaned the waterer and they free range so the pen is in fairly good shape even with all this rain. These girls are 4 months old and this is so weird.

Don't mean nothin'. My son is a Christian Buddhist. Or is it Buddhist Christian? I forget. Anyway, he has a masters in Christian theology and teaches theology at a private Christian school.

Yeah, but he said in an interview about 6 months ago that tho he was raised christian, Tina Turner had converted him to buddhism a few years ago. I got the impression that he'd left christianity completely.

Yea that is weird. I hope you get it figured out soon. Sure sounds like it is catching or an environmental issue. Sounds like you have done all you can. Is it possible that you don't free range them in case it is something they are getting into? Lets hope you hear something today.

Just a guess, have you checked the free range area for anything that could be a poison that the chickens could have eaten? Rat poison around the barn for example.

I have combed the area for anything and I am not seeing a thing. We have small children so I'm very careful to not keep poison or anything around because the baby doesn't know any better.

I got a call from the Dr. this morning and he said that something in the chicken caused him to do a culture and they will have results this afternoon. He said that the indications are leaning towards a parasite and that I might have to use a special wormer and they should be fine. He will know definitively this afternoon. I will be happy to know.

The potato thing is with the peels, I think. I thought potatoes were ok as long as you peeled them. I haven't fed them these but I think I read that somewhere.

Does it have a turner? Some people have great success witht eh styro incubators. I had two going at one time and almost every egg hatched in one of them and none in the other.
Everything seemed the same. I guess what I am saying is if you don't have a good hatch don't give up.
Me Maw on here ran six or sevenof them all summer without turners and did well with them. She is from pioneer stock though. I could never turn that many eggs twice a day.
Sorry not much help but there are some smart incubator people around that might can help. NNbreeder, OKCarla, and Chiclooker to name a few.

Reminds me of the old Imperials song "Ole Buddah"

Well I am not to good with this new math. Who knew you had to know how to decipher Algebraic equations just to hatch eggs.
My dilemma is that I have quail amd chicken eggs set in three trays in my bator.
Each tray to hatch on different dates. I figured the quail and chickens to where they would hatch three days a part. (18 for the quail and 21 for the chickens).

Here is the problem in story form:

Monty has quail eggs and chicken eggs in n incubator. The quail eggs are supposed to take 18 days to hatch. The chicken eggs should take 21.
There are three trays in the incubator with both quail and chicken eggs.
There is supposed to be a three day difference between each tray's hatching date as well as the difference between the incubation period of the quail and chicken eggs.
Shouldn't Monty be able to hatch out the six different groups without any problem of overlapping hatches?
If Not? Why not?
What is the answer to Monty's problem?

A: He is an idiot.
B: The stupid quail keep hatching out two to three days early which throws all numbers off.
c: He is an idiot.
D: All of the above

The answer of course is D.
