My hubby has a motorcycle that I'm trying to get him to sell. Maybe I need to get with your wife on that one. Lol

I should've done some homework at POOPS. I've been working on a take home exam ALL evening, still not done. And need to start writing another wetland paper... Anyone know what the most navigable river in Oklahoma is???

Before they built the dams in OKC the Canadian river was, after all you could drive semis up the middle of the dry bed all the way to the Canton dam!!

But yes it's the Arkansas. From Catoosa you can ship goods all the way to the Gulf.

I don't know what year all the dams were built - but it it must have been one of your ancestors that drove a semi up the middle of the dry bed to the Canton Dam. That is interesting information!

YEA I coulda told ya that... When we bought our backyard bundle via MC MURRAY Hatchery it came with 7 ducklings, 7 Turkeys and 2 Gosselings...Once they were starting to get bigger... I was like they are to messy and spastic for me so thankfully we found home for most of them in fact a great gal here on the site bought 3 of them.... We only kept one male back... mainly because my husband seems to think he can get the one to like him... I prefer the geese over the duck... so bad I know

There were a lot of pigeons at POOPS and I have to confess that other than there being some interesting looking birds, I don't understand the facination with them. Does anyone actually eat them or are they all for eye candy and entertainment value - sort of like the tiny bantams.

We saved the quilt as the last item in the raffle and everyone was on pins and needles until we drew the winning number.
We really appreciate your donation.I am sure there will be pics later. I didn't take any myself.
I got a nice pair of Langshan hens and a trio of blue ribbon Hmaburgs. My son won some A&M quail in the raffle. I also picked a (we believe) Shamo rooster. Also Teach gave my son a pigeon.
Na-Na's Bill got the deal of the day when snagged six runner ducks for $$ bucks.
I must have been snoozing.
A nice bidding war between memaw and Luvs over some Cohins was entertaining to say the least.

We got a beautiful blue Naked Neck cockerel, I believe, from Grace and also bought a little doe rabbit from Grace through the auction.
Bought some Silkies from Stray's sister and Teva, the wife, got a beautiful gun rack made from old barn boards with a print of paint horses on it, her favorite.

And I got a good wing-whipping from one of our turkeys that I was helping to display during the auction!

Teach, Glad you made it home ok. It was nice visiting with you and your family.
You married well over your head and you are a pretty tall guy.
Thanks for everything. Even the pretty pigeon> Is it a boy or girl?
I know what breed it is but if I were to name it, what would it be?

It hasn't been all that long ago that they built the dams in OKC, it was part of the MAPS projects. The city of OKC used to joke that it was the only river in the country that had to be mowed!

I get the same feeling about 80% or more of the birds I see sold at auctions. I'll see some tiny thing sell for 15 or 20 bucks and I'll just scratch my head. I guess people get them because they are pretty or quirky or something.

But then, I do have my ducks and geese, and they are pretty much useless feed-eaters, so who am I to talk?
