If'n you get some, you'll just have to select for the short legs in the next breeding. Some will die in the egg from the lethal gene, but the ones that hatch should have shorter legs than the parents did.

Yes, I will be at the Idabel show. Just to browse, I missed the date for submissions.

I will settle for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Tara, yes I hoped to have a better selection of Japs to choose from (stupid 'coons!) but I will pick out the best from the ones I have and go from there I guess

Sorry you didn't get birds entered at Idabel, but at least you still get to come

Stupid rain!!!! We have gotten 3 1/2 inches today and they are calling for 4-5 more inches by the end!!! I had to put off going to get my Marans today the people that I am buying them off of has a flooding problem with their driveway so I gotta wait till tomorrow!!! But I did find out that she also has black copper marans as well as white marans so I am going to look at those while I am there I may just get a trio of those to lol I ended up getting 2 roos and 2 hens for $35 so I am happy, now I just need to find someone who wants the other roo that I dont take!!!!

Well so far on hatching there is the "LF" Hamburg, Cochin Frizzle Bantam, Cochin Bantam (it's from my NICE Cochins and I thought they weren't fertile).

Current pipps are 2 more Cochin Bantams, 1 Amerucana Bantam & 1 Buttercup.

I have 1 Dutch that I'm waiting very impatiently for a pip on.

I'm hatching in a 18 egg Marsh Incubator and it's starting to look a little full. I want to get the babies out so bad.

I got the MEAN cage built this morning and I'm working on one more of them so I can get the auction chickens settled. I just walked in the back door and hit the business end of my cordless drill. I wasn't even using it! Of course, I'm bleeding again. I'm going to have to take some iron! I'm normally a little anemic but with all the tools around right now and my current luck I might need some heavy duty clotting ability.

Here's a pic of the Red Pyle Modern Game cockerel from the auction. I'm so happy he is already dubbed! Oh yea, that's also a pic of one side of the mean cage. I think he looks pretty nice. The fawns are going to have to mature a little to see how they turn out.

Well, I won't be doing that, I don't think. I slit these last two turkeys and didn't like the outcome even after I stunned them. They bled out well, but they awoke at some point from the stun, even though I whacked the second one twice with an iron pipe before slitting.

It's one of the few areas I have a problem with Joel Salatin's style of butchering. He swears by slitting. To each his own, but it just ain't for me. Chop for the birds, .22 for the bigger critters.

I agree, this weather is for baking. We went to the store today just to buy baking supplies. And guess what we forgot . . . flour. We have no flour. But I did have a little left and we made chocolate chip cookie bars. Tomorrow I will get flour . . . lots of flour. I have lots of baking plans. Umm . . . bread, cakes, cookies, pies, and anything else I get in the mood for. My son decided to bring home a cookbook for chocolate from school. I think it was a hint. My husband got ahold of it this morning and lets just say he started craving sweets. So we will also be baking this weekend. Hope everyone is enjoying this weather as much as my birds are. They refuse to get inside. Their feathers are completely drenched. We eventually locked them in so they could dry off a bit.
