Okies in the BYC The Original

Good morning Okies, it's 5:52am and I've been slapping the alarm clock for the last... hour maybe? Dunno. The fiancee doesn't work today (schedule is 6 days on, 3 days off) so he's going to watch the kiddo while I go to work today. She feels better, but is still a bit whiny because her stomach still feels slightly "off". It's fall break anyway so she wouldn't be going to school even if she felt ok.

Well Ash and Rowan (my conures) are hanging upside down and begging for sunflower seeds so I'd better go pay them some attention before I go to work.

edited because I don't get to go to BED... I had to get to WORK. *sigh*

Well I think my Bantam hatch is about over. Found 2 more in the hatcher this morning, so 28 out of 47 made it, that's a 60% hatch rate. Not bad for eBay eggs that were shipped in. Here's what I have -

Spangle #1, #2, #3
Self Blue #1, #2
Silver Duckwing #1, #2
Belgian Quail D'Anvers #1, #2
Crele #1, #2, #3, #4, #5
Partridge Cochin #1, #2
Red Cochin #1, #2, #3
Self Blue dUccle #1, #2, #3
Black Breasted Red #1, #2, #3
Mille Fluer #1
Buff Cochin #1
Birchen #1

I'm going to give the rest of the eggs a little more time, probably until tomorrow morning but I don't harbor much hope for them. After these little guys start to feather out I'm going to sell most of them, or give them to kids in our local 4H poulty club. All I'm really interested in are the BB Red, Crele, and Silver Duckwing.

Good Morning everyone! I am hoping to see some of that sunshine today!

I won't be on this morning I have to take Matt to the doc. Nothing to worry about he has to have surgery for a hernia this is just part of the prep. Then we have to run get his riffle tag.

faerielady glad your little girl is feeling better!

NN so glad to have you around here.

Al behave yourself today

Ronnie how many chickens do you have now??

sjarvis are they going looking for "pets"

nnbreeder, that is one huge bird you are holding. If you judge the grown size of a dog by the size of its feet as a puppy, and guess at the size of a bird by the size of its legs and feet, that thing must stand 3 feet tall.

Sooner I honestly dont know how many I have. Bunch of juveniles. Maybe 6 blue orps a few japs 2 lavendar orps and 4-5 split/black lavender orps and a few mixed are all a few months old. Ive got the 7 new layers 2 that are just about POL running around the yard RIR x SLW crosses. About 20+ guineas I turned out yesterday and couldnt find again to pen back up lol. Oh and daughtesr 6 new blue/splash cochin bantams. I am picking up a turkey trio in another week or two and a few more laying hens for the wife. Some of those deleware females where perty and the roosters where massive.

Mallen hope you get a great hatch with those game birds. Im fixing to have to just order me some myself cant find any localy. Some beutifly varietys out there.

I just remembered to right this down after reading Mallens hatching report. I set 120+ eggs yesterday. 7 are BBW turkey eggs. Hope they hatch but I dont have my hopes up on them being fertile, they whre free though.

Actually, I'm not sure it is a meat grinder at all. One guy came by after I bought it and said it is a seed mill. Which is fine. It means I can now grind my own homegrown organically certified hippiefied chicken feed.

Which really appeals to a bonafide wannabe treehugger like me.

Oh my goodness, I have a grain mill and didnt even cross my mind for milling the home made chicken feed I wanna do... !! Derrrrr

Good morning, Charlie - good to see you.
Do you still need that contact information for the pens? I found it again the other day - might be able to find it again
