Yes, they are bantams.

EngieKisses I saw both pictures of your lovely fluffies - I'm glad Grace asked the bantam question - I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for posting the second photo that shows the black ones. They are all so pretty!

Ick. It's raining here again! My run has puddles in it, too Hennies - and my chickens stand out it it as well. So much for the question of who is smarter...the city chicken or the country chicken...neither of them have any sense!

Nuthin' a rubber boot in the backside wouldn't cure....

They are all bantams in the second pic except the bigger black one with the pea comb, she is a EE that believes she is a cochin. She was accidently shipped with the black cochins and was hatched and raised with nothing but cochins. We ordered 4 black cochins, we received 3 black cochins, and one EE. One of the black cochins turned out to be a roo, and we rehomed him ages ago.

This is the coop that the two silkies I bought from Carla are going to go!!

Carah...you know the joy of being a grandmother is to live to see YOUR kids have teenagers....LOL .....

If it's any consolation at all, be glad he's going through this phase at the proper time--they all do in one way or another. Believe me, it is MUCH more disastrous if they behave well as teens then do their "rebellion" out of phase. Even the worst of them DO generally outgrow it and become worthwhile and productive citizens and family members!

Doesn't really make it easier to take when you're in the thick of it, though.

Yes I agree, he is going through it at the right time. We started butting heads the minute he got home. We went from being grounded 1 week to 1 week1 day to 1 week 2 days. I think he finally caught on. Things are better now but it will be a long week. Anytime they are grounded it's like I am grounded too. LOL.

hmmmm...what happened to the rain?? got sprinkles thats it...

teenagers.... yep- they grow out of it, my daughter has a teen stepson and her own growing up fast behind him... thought for awhile we'd have to raise them but she finally got past that and is working her way to being quite a mom...

i have a buff cochin who is the bottom of the pecking order, haven't integrated the Lb yet, and she is really getting run ragged, about the same size as the LB, any suggestions on getting the other flock member to quit picking on her?

MMMMMMMMMMMMMM green chili stew sounds so good!!!! Need that recipe!

Here it is. Super easy

2 lbs pork [roast or steak] I use roast cut in small chunks
1 chopped onion
brown in small amount of oil
Add
1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cumin
chilies, I use 3 or 4 fresh, or you can use canned ones adjust to your taste
3 or 4 potatoes
simmer 3 or 4 hours till pork is tender
I usually double this DH wants left overs and it is better the next day
Enjoy

The county guys doesn't like to see me coming. I figure one day they will get tired of me calling.

Yesterday, one of my neighbors flagged me down on the road. He was carrying a petition around to try and get the county commissioner to fix ours. Problem is election time is coming up and he isn't running again.

Hiya peeps and peepsters,

WHAT A DAY.... Jason didnt get the surgery.. instead we ended up in the ER with them keeping an eye on him for nearly 6 hours... But everything is fine... I guess he just had a slight anxiety which caused him to have a shortness of breath and coughing fits everytime he tried to breath, then his ekg came back irregular... so they had to post pone his surgery to remove his bionic ware for his leg until they could get his anxiety down... although i think it got worse because he was mad they wouldnt go ahead with the surgery... since we sat down in the ER in the ER room for many many hours..

BUT despite the life in the ER non Greys Anatamy episode with NO House to tell us what to do we headed to the place to make us happy SEARS... where we just purchased a $1600 worth Range/Convection Oven(meaning it does both) for $550 since it was the Floor model... and we purchased a pretty sweet New Fridge also ... which is a good thing since our fridge is old and constantly runs and makes weird noises... and Jason is happy because this is our first fridge that is Energy Star/ has a water/ice machine/ Got an extra $50 off courtesy of PSO Electric and its one of those models where the top is the fridge and the freezer is a pull out drawer...

And to TOP IT OFF... We come home to see we were blessed with our first egg!
wee.gif

We believe Cruella did this since she is the only hen we have that is older of our other hens by a couple months... she is the one I bid on at the Auction at POOPS that was white with black at the end of her feathers... but curious to know do EE sometimes lay light light brown eggs? because that is the colour of the egg and such... and now that we have our first egg does that mean we should slowly move the feed to the laying kind? only because I have them on the chicken starter/grower for all of them since all of my birds except Cruella are still young...

Anyhoot I am just so tickled with this day...

Jeannie

I have Chickens TOO... How about You Stimpy ROO

We had an old shop building that was falling apart on land we bought, and voila a whole stack of sheet metal was provided when we took it off the roof
smile.png

Dad cuts it with metal shears (also called metal snips).

Be sure and ask a carpenter before trying this, but I was told you can cut sheet metal with a skillsaw if you turn the blade backwards. I say again, be sure and ask a carpenter before trying this.

My Silkies just love a good blow dry after getting a bath. I'm willing to bet the RIR roo would enjoy the experience as well.

Go ahead, Henny...
