My niece once watched her dog get run over, and it was very traumatizing

Even not being your dog, that must have been awful to watch!

Life is moving along. I stayed busy till dark then came in the house to pick up and chat with the Okie's. You guys off to go hunting again??? Matt is planning to go this weekend too.

I hate those moods, I don't understand why I always get them when it has to do with thing getting done indoors! LOL.

side thought: How does a rooster instantly spot a hen that he hasn't seen in a while? I let me two back in with the flock today while free ranging, he spotted her the moment she moved in with the other girls...

Chickens can't count, but they can see color. Is she a different color than the other hens?

I think 18.00 is well worth it. I would of put it on a timer if nothing else.

I would try to make it to an OKie dinner!!

One is questionable & the other is too!

Yes they were both black, they may have been "his girls" before being removed from the pen so he was letting them know they still were. I have two roosters that are together in that pen and they seem to have split the girls up yet they all sleep in the same coop.

Anyone getting any storms yet? It has been drizzling here since 3 pm but the weather guys keep saying no rain until after midnight.

I thought drizzle was rain. Itsy bitsy tiny rain but rain none the less.

Speaking of auctions, looks like Fletcher might be finally catching on about the tax thing. Day late and dollar short, though, considering they will be competing with both Cement and Blanchard on the 7th. This is likely to be their smallest turnout yet...

While looking at my "wish list" on Amazon, I noticed that I added a book awhile back called
Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting by Michael Perry. I don't recall where I heard about the book, but it is about a man who starts farming with very little prior experience. Has anyone read it? If so, what did you think about it?

I have a rooster in my big pen and all of the other roos harrass him all over the place. He just runs to a corner and hides.
Today I moved into an empty pen next to another pen with one roo and four hens.
What did he do? He ran straight to the fence and started picking a fight with the other rooster. I wanted to just throw him back in the big pen where he knows his place. If he gets his hiney kicked by every bird half his size why would he think he could take on a bird bigger than he is?

My take is that chickens are stupid.
