I can't believe there are so many okies in here!!! My family and I just got a bunch of chickens! My parents and I used to have chickens when I was a kid, but since my son caught a couple in the You-Catch-It-You-Keep-It in a rodeo, we decided to get a few more.
We have a few buffs, a few RIR, one bardrock (we had two but one died) and a few other kind but I don't know the breed.

Our F.O.P. boys did good at the cook-off today: 2nd place overall and Fireman's Choice!

Alright I wanna see pics of everyone's kiddos dressed up for Halloween! Carla, that is an adorable pic of the grandbaby.

Faerie - Nice coop! I'd never thought about camo, maybe my hubby would be more apt to let me have one if I told him I'd paint it that way. Lol

Yeah, I still laugh when I think of when that chicken flew off at Blanchard and the auctioneer from Tuttle made a quick one-handed catch at the five yard line. The other buy at the mic said, "And you can thank the Tuttle football program for that catch, folks!" Cracked me up.

I got the game set to record and will root for the neighbor kid.

Sweet looking grandbaby, by the way. I'm not old enough to have any of those yet, but my little brother has several and they all smile all the time like that.

Oh, that's too bad. What do you think went wrong? Do you think it can be fixed? Any tips on doing mine before I get started on it would be much appreciated.

And I was obviously kidding about sending out a search party. I have no reason to doubt you could handle the job.

Well the tip I would say if you have access to a Plasma cutter use it to cut the bottom out of the wash tub and also use it when cutting for the bungee strips I used just a regular torch and did not get all my bungees strait so when you turn the motor on it is a little off balance, it did as it was suppose to when I got to use it but I think that there was some water in the motor is the only thing that I can figure I havnt torn back into it yet I will probably do that this week, and the old seasoned pro was a overstatement this is the first time that I have ever processed a a chicken and I must say that it was easier than what I thought

Hey Q - Sounds like you guys have had a BUSY day. Is super that the kids
got out there and right in the middle of it. You/Carolyn have some kids
that you can be very proud of.

Don't know which route you'd be taking from up there. So, when you get
down between Tonnitown and Springdale, #412 will cross. From there,
since we'll be running #412, you take 540 South to Exit 66, go east to
the first stoplight, and turn right to the fairgrounds. There should be
directional signs out there. Bill and his daughter showed cattle over
there years ago and he remembers it's right there almost beside
the I-state.

Take care of the traffic on your way. That's the reason there aren't
any motel rooms, RV spaces, etc. over there. Arkansas plays
No. Carolina that same Saturday. The guy at the RV park told
me that they are preparing for an extra 100,000 people in town
for that weekend. Hope the show is over and we can get outta
there before the ballgame is over........LOL

Hope you can come visit. Have a good one !

It's an event in some of the small town rodeos. It's generally for kids six and under. It's hilarious to watch the little bitty kids chase after the chickens that are turned loose in the middle of the arena. (But, I don't think the chickens like it any too well!)

Plasma cutter? Like on the Sci-fi channel? Or is there actually such a thing? You are obviously miles ahead of me on that sort of thing.

I am worried about water getting in the electric motor. Seems to me the wizbang dude has his motor offset somehow, and in normal operation water bypasses the the motor in a washer. But once you cut the tub, I'm not so sure it would. Or did you just use the motor and tub and stuff as parts and build it completely separate from the washing machine? I'm having trouble picturing your setup in my head. If you could somehow get some pics it would help a lot.

Maybe you could even post it on your BYC webpage. I'm not sure I have seen one on here actually made from a washing machine, just that deal on Youtube.

Anyway, congrats on the successful processing day. Forty!!! Man, I was scared on my first try with just five and Al here to help me! I am duly impressed.

But you are absolutely right, it is much easier than one would think. And why wouldn't it be? Us common folk have been raising and butchering our own chickens for millennia.

Jim : A plasma cutter is a really super cool torch, that shoots a very thin line of super heated gas at high presure as thin as a pencil mark. I wish was like big Q and had one he is my hero, I want one but alas I only have the old torch set up, but my tanks are really big LOL.
Q: you have to help us visualize your tank & motor linkage, I am sure we could solve the leaking water issue and perhaps launch it to Mars while were at it LOL rocket science ya'know hehehe.
