Roy, thanks and you are welcome

I figured if I ever got rid of my birds I wouldn't know what to do with all my free time... so it was so much simpler to keep them

I bet losing your dog was awful, but one good thing about it is that you won't have that same problem with your birds again....
Things are good... I'm only dressed as myself

... spent the evening playing with my silkies and cochins so I wouldn't have had time for trickertreating anyway

Ah, a convert! My evil plan appears to be working.

[MWAHAHAHAHA!]

I'm only going to have 3 kinds. Silkies, MFCs, and layers. The layers will not have a roo, so I really don't care what breed they are. I might convert to all RIR next spring, the deep mahogany non-hatchery birds. For now, tho, I shall keep all standard size layers and cull the roosters by selling or butchering. If I go to RIR next spring, I'll keep 1 roo.

No ducks for me, and after we get a license for J, we'll raise Butler giant quail at his house in a quail run. While I'd love to have turkeys, that's not gonna happen until we have the land for it. When we do, they'll be midget whites most likely.

Yes they are from Monty! They are doing great, they sure are cute but you know how it is with too many roo's. Not sure yet if I will keep one for myself......

I refuse to go to only a couple breeds...just ain't in my genetics!!!

I am going to go to two pairs per pigeon breed and three types of show birds...I have three cages that will be used for their breeding...I have six cages going to be devoted to raising up babies...then my layer flock will consist of cool stuff...but no matter what...if you are on my place..you will be a bantam!!! except pheasants

If I ever get into the country I will have heritage breeds of turkeys...all of them

it is an addiction compulsivve thing...no midget turkeys though...

Hope everyone is doing well this evening. Did you guys see that great weather report got this week. I love it. We had a busy day around here. Processed three of the meat birds. We also got the frame for the new quail hutch built. It really doesn't sound like much, but everyone in the house is sick. We got wore out real easy. We're gonna finish the hutch tomorrow, so the poor babies have room to move. We're getting a couple eggs from them every day now. We even got a solid white eggs today. Had to be from the fancy quail that Roy left when he came to visit. I would like to welcom all the new members, I can't remember everyone's name because there have been so many over the past few days. I candled the chicken eggs the other night. It looks like there are only a couple of clears and the rest have good veins showing. Hope everyine enjoys the rest of the evening and has a great day tomorrow. I'm not sure when I'll be able to post next. I'm gonna be busy the next few days. I'll keep reading, but not posting. It takes forever to catch up on even one day's worth of posts.

would love to take credit for the white eggs but alas it is just something that happens once in awhile...I think they poop them before they get colored all the way

just a guess and not related to any scientific type training that i should have gotten at some point!!

TJ's Nana,

There is no way we can get to Arkansas on Friday before they close at 9. Grace and her Dad are showing a slide show of Idabel & Eufala to the 4-H Poultry Club so we would not be able to leave before 7 pm. So we are planning on leaving at about 2:30 am Saturday morning. On the way back, I think we will jump into a motel somewhere along the way. The girls love to spend the night in motels and I figure I will be zapped from the early & action packed day. Wished I could get some sleep while getting to the shows!

It still came from one of your birds.

Jordan was excited when he found it this afternoon. He is so excited about finally getting a bigger cage for them. He even told me I could have his Americauna cockeral if I get it done this weekend. Maybe all my EE babies will be girls and I can put him with them. I already have people around here asking for quail eggs when I get enough. I have about a dozen now. All it took was you coming to see them and they started laying.

Well I'm off to bed, good night everyone.

Hey, hope all you Okies had a great hallows eve with the family.

Al, been there, done that, but it was a scarry movie not a haunted trail/hay ride deal.

Soooooo do any of our lovely Okie members have show quality white rocks? Large or bantam? Ive got a trio of show quality barred rock bantams for my daughter to show, wont have them till Thursday. Gots me some more blue orp eggs coming in the mail sense I lose several of mine, probly be here Monday. And im suppose to be getting 48 silkie eggs sometime very soon also from a fellow byc'er. IF my wife new how much I spent on chickens she'd flip.

Teach have you ever looked at the pigeon section eggbid, i think they got like 200+ live bird listings on there. Pedigreed birds and all that, who would of known pigeons where so popular.

Heres 193 listings on sporting pigeons. The shipping is what kicks ya in the pants though.

How was everyones Halloween?
I went out trick or treating with a couple of friends of mine, I took Jak-Jak, my silver laced polish, with us. It was so much fun showing her off to everyone. Next year I plan on taking them all out into the front yard to do something with them, but I haven't figured that something out yet, does anyone think I'm go over board with my birds? Be honest.
