Those really are beautiful birds and their head dress reminds me of a lacy cap

Get well Gerald! The first time Carla posted you were in the ER, and your symptoms...I sure didn't like how that sounded... I'm so glad the diagnosis is in so you can start treatment and fully recover.

Happy Birthday Ke_ben - Yum...seafood!

Good morning, everyOkie!! To borrow a line from TJ's Na-Na...Have a good one!

Kate,

4-H has a Cloverbud program for children 5 or 6 to 9. I have a Cloverbud who shows in the Open class at our Fair. She has shown at the Eufaula 4-H Chicken Show though. She also shows in the APA/ABA Shows in the Junior section. Your child can show just make sure she doesn't take the competing too far. Actually Liz (7) took the competing better than Corey (10) in the beginning. In only a few shows though, they are handling not winning or winning very well. You can use these shows to develop excellent sportsmanship skills. Some of the other children here are excellent role models and of course children being the sponges they are have soaked up that attitude.

Our next shows are in December, Shawnee 12-13th and in January, Cement 30th. You can download them from my sig line. Just click on them and find the download button on the page. In the Cement Show Catalog, the feather leg category was left off but be assured that they welcome them too. They have updated their catalog I just don't have that one.

Glad to hear another child is interested in showing! My girls love to see their chicken loving friends. They just wished they didn't have to wait so long between visits.

Sorry I didn't post last night but we had to go to the hospital with my mom. They admitted her. Actually, We've been to the ER the last two nights with her. We came home to get some sleep and as soon as we get all our morning chores done we will be back up there again. She had a drug reaction to prescription pain medicine. The last couple of years has been a struggle but I think the real problems are just beginning.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Our thread is definitely military rich. It's great to see how many have been involved with keeping our Country safe.

That's your Second Dad who is enjoying his garden, right? Excellent hobby. He just needs some chickens to feed the scraps to.

Dandilion - sorry that your mother is in the hospital. Hopefully, the doctors will find the right mixture of medications to increase her health. Be sure and get some rest for yourself, so that you can stay healthy enough to take care of everyone else.

We wouldn't be shopping for more chickens. Oh no, we wouldn't. No, no, no!

Okay, okay! I pledge to only buy chickens if they will show better than the ones we have got!

Carla, Glad to hear they found out what was wrong with Gerald. Now, he can get rid of those headaches and get better!

Thanks, P&B. I just got a phone call from my brother. Right now is sounds like no change thru the night. I have to get in soon.

Back at the hospital with Gerald. He's feeling better, but he hasn't seen a doctor yet today to find out if they've determined what type of meningitis he has. They did another CAT scan today too. I looked up on the web about meningitis and apparently there's several kinds ... viral and bacterial. Apparently the bacterial meningitis is the worst and that's the one that's contagious ... I would have though viral would be the contagious kind ???? Anyway, still don't know what's going on & the nurse this morning seems to think Gerald will be here for several days. Ughhh ... that means I have to go back home & feed all one zillion dogs cats chickens turkeys guineas etc. all by myself ... and before dark.

I've got a bit of a headache today too ... not the severe kind though ... probably just stress & not enough sleep ... unless it's the beginning of bacterial meningitis
