Oh no! That is horrible. Food poisoning can be very dangerous

I'm glad everyone is better. Thank goodness for modern medicine and hospitals.

PnB, its a Marans Rooster that goes with some hens of hers I bought about a month ago. The rooster was loose at the time and neither of us was gonna chase it down. The lady was picking up, I belive she said 75 chickens from Gideon she had dropped off a day or two ago, so we met at Wal-mart. I assume my wife wanted the rooster that goes with her hens, but I never actualy asked lol, she did want the hens though.

Bigokie, that is really scary to go thru food poisoning. I sure need to empty out my fridge & freezer. I know there's food hiding in there that several years old.

I wish ya'll had a more reliable vehicle so you could go to Shawnee. Hopefully you can get some other assistance before SS kicks in? Maybe if you advertise on craigslist what you need under the wanted category or the barter category? I wish you lots of luck & we're praying for you!

Here is the site for Strombergs - that will give you the dimension of the bags you need - they sell 0015 mil thickness bags http://www.strombergschickens.com/products/processing.php

This
site is closed until Monday, but they give the dimensions for the bags they carry for turkeys: for a 20-25 lb turkey, the bag size is 16x25. For a 25-30 lb turkey, the bag size is 18x28. For a 30+ lb turkey, the bag size is 20x28.

In looking at several different processing sites, it is confusing to me just how thick their plastic bags are. The vacume seal bags on one site were 3.5 mil thick, but they are supposed to be the kind you can boil in.

If nothing else is available, I wonder if you could double bag them in those turkey roasting bags? Theoretically, they would be large enough and you know they are food safe. I don't think they are heavy enough that you could lift the turkey by the bag, but maybe you could make a quick cloth or canvas bag for carrying the frozen turkey and place the turkey in the baking bag inside your cloth bag with handles. It would give the turkey a nice homegrown/unique appearance. Would add to the cost, but get the job done.

Best of luck

As long as the food has remained frozen, it is fine. It may deteriorate in taste because of freezer burn, but it is safe. It is refrigerated food that can develop toxins, as happened at BigOkie's house.
