Maynard Krebs...cyclic kind of guy if memory serves me well...but yes I am young! And darn good looking if I do say so myself (mainly cuz i can't convince anyone else to)

edited to add that the cyclic thing was a funny related to Hans Krebs...

You are right...never get those birds to do anyting and they would keep telling the other birds they were doing it wrong and then they would take half your eggs and...yeah that won't be good...

Heard about that...aparently...there is an idiot born every minute...could you imagine that for a mother-in-law!!

I have sad news...Ra is gone. The mite infestation I was fighting took its toll...or the treatment did him in...it is a fine line concerning reptiles. Big stupid thing. The folks I got him from had issues with other snakes they got from this breeder. They are fighting it as well. I am gonna put him in the back yard...

Sooner - thanks but I have had my fill of dead and chickens...plain ol red ain't any fun! Gotta spice it up! Add some salsa to it! Without the other colors it is just tomato!

Honestly, I don't even know how to describe them. I don't know what information to give. Two of them were HUGE...as in, there was NO room in the shell at all. Ugh. I can't even finish writing. Now i'm feeling like if I'd waited 2 more days we'd have 6 more chicks.

I'll come back later when I'm less emotional.

Thanks y'all.

When eggs are candled late you rarely see movement as they are pretty crammed in the shell, A rule of thumb is to always leave them well past hatch day just in case, only toss them when they smell or are weeping/sweating. I think at some point we have all learned this terrible lesson. Don't beat yourself up about it, it happens to us all.

AL

Thanks. I spent the better part of the morning beating myself up... but, I'm just chalking this up to a learning experience...and this is one mistake I definitely won't make again. And, I'll just try to find local eggs to hatch from now on...and buy a hydrometer...and incubate all silky eggs next time so that I'm sure to get at least one...and and and and...

At least I might end up with one olive egger out of my 10 chicks.

Thanks again!
