Shavon - glad to hear things are going good. Will keep her and the rest of y'all in our prayers.

Kate - been there done that...it is bad!...I filled two feed sacks full of birds...and I have bantams and pigeons! I shot my old dog and the other two got scared and left town...no bator? how do you live? You poor thing...go get a bator! And call Mike...he has lots of birds! Got to Shawnee...there will be lots of birds there...bring cash...lots of cash

I think you have a good chance of the eggs hatching. Atwoods in Sand Springs carries Hovabators regularly. I have a used Hovabator I'd be happy to give you, and it should be fairly reliable, though it is several years old. I've only hatched one batch since replacing the wafer. Not a spectacular hatch, though. It doesn't have a turner, but Atwoods should have one unless they've sold them all for Christmas presents. I live at Lake Keyston, just a bit off 412 at the Old Keystone Road Exit. You can PM me if you're interested.

We should have a member close to you that will volunteer to incubate them for you. Most of us never shut off our incubators anyway.

Guys, can someone give her a hand?

I know a guy that raises and hunts weimaraners. I'll see if he's interested.

You brought a smile to my face with that guy that hunts weimaraners. I know you probably meant hunts with weimaraners, but it still made me smile. Of course, now the tears actually might start flowing as I type this. I have not been able to have too much emotion yet. I think I have been in shock and just started getting to work trying to clean up the mess. Feathers, bodies and parts and this and that. The barn is a total mess. Came back in to warm up a minute and check in. My rooster keeps coming in and out and is calling for his girls. Poor guy! I guess he was the only one smart enough to fly up and stay up. I have almost all of the bodies picked up, but I can't seem to find a few of them and keep hoping they are hiding somewhere, but I am pretty certain that is nt the case.

Betsy, you are to kind. I am on the other side of Lake Keystone outside of Cleveland. So you don't sound too far at all.

Cracker barrel, Denny's, IHOP to name a few close ones. I am sure there are mom and pop places too.

Kate - I am so sorry this happened to you.

I had the same thing happen to me - except it was the neighbor's dogs. 60 hens dead in the space of two hours - in broad daylight. I was so heartsick. The hens weren't pets by any means, but I still cared about them. I made the neighbor clean up the mess. It was twenty years before I got chickens again, mostly because I didn't have any great need of them.

I hope your eggs hatch out for you, and that you find good (chicken free) homes for your pups...

So sorry for your loss!!!! We had a coon kill 30 out of 37 one night in early Sept.. We had already lost several before then, in small bunches. I didn't know if I wanted to get anymore after that. Just too hard burying that many. I'll admit that nailing that coons hide to the wall of the chicken house did tend to make things a little better though.

Just hang in there! There are lots of good people here to help you get a new flock together. If not my coon surviving rooster could use the company of another survivor.

Kate : Too bad on your flock, what a bummer anytime that happens and we all have had to deal with it at some point. The good news is we as a group are really good at operation restock and can get you fixed up in no time, just let everybody know when your ready.
