Ok slow down .............. subtleness is they key, let him ease into those Brahamas and don't force him to cuddle and play smootchikins with the bird. Let him know the breed in his own way like guy's prefer. He will prefer the knowledge and chalenge of raising chickens. don't push just intice, Just saying from a guy's point of view.

I really AM trying to infect him with the love of chickens... but so far, it's not working real well. I still think he prefers them grilled with a side of pasta.

And a meat bird project is the way to his heart is through his stomach, Silly woman. I bet there are a few of us who could gladly help you convert the ole boy.

J says "eh. It's a chicken." At the Shawnee show, he showed interested in the buff orps, the partridge rocks, and the brahmas. When we got home and I started scoping eggs, his first choice was the partridge rocks. J really isn't all that interested in the chickens... other than the fact that he thinks my cochins and silkies are "mutant chickens".

He's right, they are mutants.

I figure it'll go down something like this:

I'll attempt to incubate/hatch them. When/if any hatch, I'll have to smother any and all comments about how "cute" they are. I'll feed them and feed them, changing up sizes of the brooder. He'll help me build the coop that's just for the 4th breed. They'll keep growing. They'll eat a ton of feed. Then I'll catch him out there one day talking to the chickens, and I'll have serious doubts about his sanity.

This is what happened with my parrots. I just brought the babies home. I didn't call them cute at all. I fed the beasts 4 times a day (they were about 3-4 weeks old when I brought them home). They got all their feathers in, and I clipped their flight feathers. A couple months ago I caught him with both parrots on his hands attempting to teach them "Semper Fidelis".

So far so good Al. They are almost big enough to go in the main coop with the RIR's, won't last long in there, I figure another 60 days or so and I'll have to have pens to keep them in by themselves or they'll go to fighting each other. I'll try to get some photos posted tomorrow.

Almost forgot, Scooter and his hens have started to produce. I have 5 of those eggs in the incubator. (and 50 quail hatching right now).

So we are watching the History channel tonight and they are showing 102 minutes that changed America, it is about the 9-11. It is composed of archival footage from the when the planes hit the trade center. So strange watching it all 8 years later and knowing what is going to happen this time. I remember exactly where I was when this happened and trying to get a hold of my husband to tell him to go to a tv to see what was happening. Sooo sooo sad!

I don't watch that stuff. We spent 3 days wondering about my aunt and uncle (both worked in tower 2). Luckily their train was late, so they were just arriving as the plane hit. Took 3 days to get a working cell phone signal through the city. Btw, my mom is a "New Yor-ican", a Puerto Rican born on Long Island, NY.
