Merry Christmas everyone!

Waiting for daylight before I go out to check on everyone and feed and water. I know the going will be difficult; I've quite a distance to walk to coops, and it's all on a two-way slope. Don't know yet how deep the snow is, but there's quite a bit on the back porch--there usually isn't any. I'm worried about MY teenaged silkies; thinking I should have figured out a way to get them in where it is warmer. Their coop has a solid back and has emergency blankets taped across the ends. The tarp that covers the whole thing is snow covered, so that'll insulate it some, and their light is on. However, they had snow on them, so I'm worried. Was so tired last night after struggling through the snow to feed everyone, I wasn't thinking clearly.

Hope everyone and their birds are OK.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! We ended up with about 10 inches in our area and that was on top of about a 1 1/2 of sleet, got to work this morning and let me tell you it is dead!!!! So I reckon I will be try keep entertained by the net today.

Well, was supposed to go into work today but i can't even get out of my driveway & even if I could I can't tell where the edge of the road ends and the ditch begins. Had to dig our way out of two doors this morning, the drifts are 3 feet deep.

Went out to check on all the poultry, and thank goodness all seem to be OK. At least they're alive. Was most worried about the teenagers just behind the house, but they seem to have fared the best--dry and alert. Some still have snow on them, but they look OK. Some of the heated dog dishes are frozen, but most are working. I didn't go ahead and feed, as I want them all to stay in their cozy houses until we can get the pine shavings spread over the snow. Thank goodness Vashi brought me two big bales of the pet bedding in anticipation of mud. HAH! All the pens have a few inches of snow covering the ground.

We're going to feed ourselves, then go out and take care of the birds.

Hope everyone else is doing OK

All my chickens are fine over here but one young sebright rooster Looks like he stayed out in the cold. Ive got him inside warming up, dont know if he will make it. He wasnt wet but on his tail and wing feathers. we've already watered everyone with warm water and fed scratch to get everybody moving again, they are afraid to get off the perch.

Good Morning Okies and Happy Holiday to You All!
The sun is shining and it is starting to warm up quick here. Checked on the birds, most of them are staying in the coop to keep warm. A few ventured out to get food after I kicked the turkeys out of the coop. Need to remember when I put up the other coop that the chicken door needs to be south facing. Had to dig a trench so the chickens could get out of the coop. I should make something to eat but since it is just me I do not feel like fixing anything. Oh well, it seems like the snow is already starting to melt so we'll see how the roads look by noon.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

I was on a convoy in Germany and saw a 5 ton get stuck in snow. It's not impossible to get military tactical vehicles stuck. They may look impervious but they have are a few shortcomings. If Gerald begins to even think about driving over a sand dune stop him at all costs!

I saw the weather reports are already calling for more snow on Tuesday next week.

I woke up this morning and found the bantam chicken's door wide open. The latch was broken so I guess the wind blew pretty hard last night. I freaked out and ran down to close the door with slide on shoes and about froze my feet off. Drifts of snow with summer shoes suck! Anyway, all the bantams were okay so I am relieved.
