My daughter's father has ADD/ADHD combination type and takes the highest allowed adult dosage for it. My daughter has been on the verge for a very long time. That's why certain foods and additives aren't allowed (because they can cause a borderline kid to fall over the edge). She and I have worked quite a bit on slowing down when she talks, speaking up (because it would be 100+ wps at a very low volume), not interrupting adult conversations, not interrupting telephone calls, being patient, waiting for other kids to catch up, etc. She plays soccer because her pediatrician suggested it as a way to help burn off excess energy.
While she doesn't have all the markers for a child with ADD/ADHD or the combination type, I keep a *very close eye* on her. Between that, and her father's mother being a rapid cycling bipolar who has refused medication most of her adult life (and lost custody of her own kids over it), it promises to be a very exciting time when my daughter gets a bit older.
