Monty...there's nothing to making them. I got all the supplies rounded up and we did 7 in just a short while the other evening. The hardest part was finding enough light kits. The problem was I live in Claremore and our supplies are very limited. Wal-Mart holds the market on our shopping and if they don't have it we're out of luck. I even went to Lowe's, Atwoods, Ace Hardware. Finally Wal-Mart got some more in.

We just laid everything out and got started. They really are easy to make after the first one.

You are not listening. Who is gonna be selling them at the next Okie event?

Maybe run it in PVC sprinkler pipe? Or would it chew that too?

You could split an old water hose and slip it inside.

I'm guessing Monty doesn't want to MAKE any.

Would that help it to go from the house to the fence? We're talking a 6-10 foot gap from the side of the house to the fence.

I'm a retired Sonet engineer and I can make a voltmeter jump just using a light. Doesn't make me believe in electricity. I think it's a trick to get you to pay for something that doesn't really exist.

Well, I guess I really became a "believer" in electricity when, during the ice storm in 2007, my power line snapped under the ice and a live line was whipping around my back yard... and it electrocuted my dog. Tricks with voltmeters notwithstanding, and yes my dad played a LOT of those tricks with us when we were growing up because my older sisters are very gullible, there's no argument in my mind that they are harnessing *something* in that line... and it's capable of killing things.

OK, I know I am showing my stupidity but when it comes to genetics, why can't you cross things like a bird and a chicken?

I mean it seems to me if you wanted a Pink chicken you could artificially inseminate a white leghorn hen with sperm from a Cardinal
and get a pink chick.

Personally I would try and work the other direction and get a "true" RED chicken. That would be too cool to have a chicken that looked like a cardinal.

What can I say? Sometimes I just think weird stuff.

Maybe Charlie, Buster and Al could work with crossing cornish with an emu?

Hey everyone.

I was just wondering, would the electric candles that go on window sill and such work for making the heaters. You could probably tear it apart and just use the lamp kit that is in it. They are fairly cheap right now. They are also on clearance at Wal-Mart because they are a Christmas item. I am personally not making any, but I thought that might help someone else. My coops have heat lamps to keep the water thawed out. It would probably be cheaper to run the water heater but the lamps help keep the critters warm. I have young ones in each coop.

All the teenage birds have figured out that they can free range now and they love it. I don't have a problem with them straying to far either. They are all still here, no one has disappeared. I still have all of those roosters, if anyone is interested. There are about 4-5 NN. I can't remember how many exactly as I just woke up. Today is the first day in a month that I have had to myself and I slept in until someone called and woke me up. I guess I needed the 11 hours of sleep.

Oh, Oh, Oh......... Is anyone on here planning to go to
the Blanchard Auction??????????? He says someone
is bringing in a mountain of new quart jars. I gotta
find out if they are regular or wide mouth jars, and
then would work out something with someone if
they go for a decent price. Would want 20/25 cases
if the price was right.

Gees, this forecast is totally scarry. I don't do
cold well to begin with. We have done well
with the birds so far, but this round is going
to be a whole new ballgame.

Stay warm y'all !
