Yah, its like watching a bunch of guys running into each other over and over again.

Its all about knowing the stratagies and nuances. The same way it turns a bunch of guys running into each other into the offense and defense of a football game. It turns a bunch of cars going around in circles into a chess match of adjustments and timing that ends in one car (team) getting to the end first. But, to each his own.

Oh yeah, and CHICKENS.

ABOUT Chicken nascar a lady in town Hub had collectd thim for years an past away now she wonts to get rid of thim i have her num. Cars an cards make offer she said.

About a year ago, after I read a study that suggested a possible link of wry tail in poultry to curvature of the spine in humans with sleep deprivation as a possible causative factor, I started using the black reptile lights for my brooders. I also am using one of them in my "outdoor brooder," which now houses the young "soul stealer" Showgirls. This outdoor brooder has only a solid top and back, but I've covered the sides and front doors with emergency blanket material and/or Visqueen. The floor is still open wire. A tarp is draped over the whole thing. Each morning lately I've gone out dreading what I might find, but as soon as they hear me, they start talking to me and act perfectly normal. The chicks in the brooders definitely sleep at night now. I got mine at Wal-Mart.

Oh but Betsy I love your "soul stealing" showgirls. They are the bomb-diggity!

I was wondering what to do about my brooders. Currently I am using a regular 60 watts incandecent bulb and know they do not sleep as well, heck I do not sleep as well if there are lights on all the time. When I bought bulbs last I saw a black light bulb and thought about getting a couple for the brooders, but.... then I was worried about what kind of black velvet posters to put up, do chickens like sandlewood or nag champa incences and how do you get chicken poop off beaded curtains

morning guys- shall we say cooooldddd?!!! good grief! and those silly hens STILL want out in the run...guess they stay warm running around??

guineas are handling the cold, they still won't stay on the porch with a heat lamp- i guess they don't feel the cold the way we do

have a good day!

15 degrees and 2 inches of snow this morn ing! Won't get to go to the auction today. Proably won't be very big anyway,if they don't cancel it.

Is anyone else haveing problems with the startlings. They have found out I am feeding and are eating the feeders empty. They even go in the pigeon loft and eat the feeders emptry. And then there is the popo!, Its frozen now but when it thaws its going to be horrible.,and I worry about what they may pass on to the birds. I have fixed up a trap and am catching quite a few but it doesn't even make a dent in the numbers!I finally turned off the fountain in the koi pond because they were drawed to the running water.

This is day three of the medicated water. They don't like it and I worry about them getting dehydrated. Hope no one comes and sees the yard around the pens, everytime I empty a bowl there is this chunk of "yellow"ice!lol. Looks kind a funny in the snow!lol

Boy I wish I was close to Michael,he apparently is the pigeon finder of the state!

I have a couple rescued starlings, so am a bit biased- but as far as the wild ones go- i put cheap dog or cat food out for them, they can't digest seed not sure about the feed, but i know they probably are starving since they are insectavores- as far as water- a starling is never happier than having a bath... if you put out the cat food they may leave the feed alone... they are relatives of mynahs and will mimic- mine are fluent in star wars sounds, laser fire etc...
