Do I hear Strawberry Alarm Clock? Iron Butterfly?

(*Hennies cracks up at the thought of broodies passing a joint back and forth and blowing smoke rings..."Like Wow, man, these eggs are like...HUUUGGEEE"*)

I was thinking more like Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane or even the Doors. I wonder if that would increase or decrease egg production?? Like Groovy baby!!!

I love Jefferson Airplane!

Good Morning fellow Okies!

How was the auction? I wish I could have gone, but it is my daughters birthday. I asked her if she wanted to go to a chicken auction for her Birthday she kind of gave me a funny look, although her friend was here and that might have had something to do with it, because apparently I am crazy. Charlotte made me aware of how crazy I am, she said mom you just start singing at random and weird times and then you start dancing too. LOL! Yeah they were listening to some sort of band on the tv in the kitchen and I came walking through and start dancing and I think I started embarrassing her in front of her friend, but her friend was laughing hard and I guess couldn't believe I was dancing the way I was. LOL I love to sing, dance and be merry!

Well, I am still playing catch up on the board. Maybe I will be caught up this evening, depending on how much everybody chats it up today because we are about to head out soon for Birthday celebrating. She is 9 years old today! Yeah! I told her 9 more years and you can move out, she said no I am not. I said you are going to live with me forever, she said well I am going to go to OSU. LOL!

Hi Doc, Renia & Montana

It's good to see that ya'll joined the bunch.

I certainly hope to eventually see your auction going as well as the Blanchard auction, although location is definitely against you. I absolutely hate paying the turnpike fees to drive there, especially if I think the auction will be small. Also, one of your 2 monthly auctions is the same time as the Cement auction. It's a tough decision to stop going to one auction I like and go to another. I sure wish ya'll were at a different time or day for the 1st weekend of the month.

I enjoyed visiting with lots of great Okies last night at the Blanchard auction. The place was full of people, but unfortunately there wasn't a lot of birds there. I would have loved to have brought quite a few birds to the sale, but we just didn't have time. Oh well, hopefully next time.

I'm glad to have visited with all the regulars and to have met Jer-man & his lovely wife. I also had the pleasure of meeting Teach's kinfolk. Speaking of Teach & his kinfolk .... I hope they made it safely to wherever they were headed last night. They stopped at out place on the way out & loaded up with some more birds & I now have some cool chicken barrels!

We didn't buy ANYTHING! Other than some food from the concession stand, that is. We were over an hour late getting there and missed out on the supplies & eggs & stuff that we usually are interested in, and there were too few birds there that I was interested in. If you were there ... I think you'd have been interested in the blue marans and black copper marans that were there. I was thinking about them myself, but since I don't know how dark their eggs are, I decided not to bid on them.

Y'all DEFINITELY need to head on down to Blanchard one of these days to see how crazy it gets at the auction. The Okies bunch have taken over the back end of the building!

Funny, I didn't know it until reading on here though. I love my BYC weather reports. LOL Well, I had better go and see what is going on in the kitchen and start getting around and going and doing Birthday things. I really wish I could have gone to the Blanchard auction last night, even if I didn't buy anything just so I could have hung out with all of my kewl chicken buddies. I hope you guys had a lot of fun! I go back to school this week so we will see how this semester goes and perhaps I can swing into one of those auctions coming up soon. Before I get all overwhelmed with classes, tests, and projects.

Morning all : It was a great Saturday night in Oklahoma last night, A big thanks to Jerry and the gang for giving us a nice pleasant place to gather and have some big fun....................... I got home about 10:00 pm after my stealth delivery of secret fowl to a nice young couple in the country.

We had a great BYC turnout and thanks to Marybeth we had a table reserved in the back complete with a party tablecloth and sign. Here was the roll call at Blanchard.

Marybeth & hubby, Carla & Gerald, KT/Henny & Mike, Stephanie & Carl, Michael Daugherty, Jer-man & wife, Rebecca/Muesky & Husband Uli, Roy/Teach & Clayton and Roy brought his little brother from texas, AL........ and I may have missed some sorry.

Gerald shows up dressed like Nanook of the North complete with monster artic boots LOL those Air Force guy's are a mess but a bunch of fun to hang with. Roy introduced us all to his little brother who just happens to be 10' tall and about 800lbs, they do grow-em big in Texas. NEWS FLASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Henny the Rooster hater Bought a fine specimin last night can you believe it folks Henny buying roosters LOL................... Jer-man seems to have taken a shine to our group and is a tad on the quite side but we will change that, I lent him my bid # as he conviently didn't get one, Hows that for enabling. Marybeth was braced for the cold as well as Muesky but it was nice and toasty in the sale barn( Thanks Jerry ). Rusty was there and I encouraged him to get online and join in the insanity, so look for him if he shows up. I think everybody had a fantastic time and this one had a good turnout, Fairie everybody was asking about you and your where abouts and all were wanting to meet you. Henny's Mike kept us updated on the football games from the truck radio, play by play, he's a good guy and a Jets fan LOL. I think alot of chicken plans were hatched amoung our members last night so there is sure to be more swapping in the future. Jim/Buster we missed you I can't believe you chose Cowboys over chickens we now know where your prioritys lay LOL.

I think these little Saturday night auctions are a great resource for our group to get together and meet and visit every month in person, there were smiles and laughter throughout the night at our BYC table, lets try and keep these little meet-ups going.

I agree. It will be a tough go on that first weekend being only a few miles from another poultry auction.

But they got two things going for them as far as I'm concerned... heaters in the winter and fans in the summer! Cement uses one fan in the summer and it is pointed at the auctioneer instead of the buyers, and has no heaters in the sale barn in winter. It was freaking cold last Cement auction I attended!!!

They have holes cut in them for a door and a wood perch inside .... about like a dog house, except for a few chickens. A lot of gamebird breeders use them for individual shelters for roosters & tie a cord from the barrel onto a leg of the rooster.

I'll probably just put them in my chicken/turkey pens & let the birds sort out who gets to claim the barrels. I'd be willing to bet that some of my turkeys will take up residence on top of the barrels, and some lucky chickens will get to roost inside.

I'd've made it there but been stranded... and I wasn't smart enough to realize that I needed a ride until J pointed it out to me. I already told J there's no excuse feasible enough for me to miss the next one. He just groaned and turned on his stupid computer game (he's a WoW fanatic).
