OK here is a random question punctuating my ignorance.

I know a Peahen is femaile.
I know a Peacock is a male.
What do you call them as a whole?

Are they peafowl or peabirds?

What is a flock of them called?

If one is crazy is it called peanuts?
If there are twins are they call peas in a pod?

Ok... I looked up the call ducks, my husband said they are small. I dont want ducks ( correction I didnt want ducks) but i like those. I like it small. Now he keeps telling me no. And Teach he says you are in trouble, I think he thinks you had something to do with me wanting call ducks. I dont know where he got that idea. Ya'll need to help me convince him that we need call ducks.

This may be a silly question, but it seemed that I remember ducks mate for life, is this correct? If so I would like a pair or maybe two. What are available after the ones you are wanting?

Geese and Swans mate for life. Ducks are more like people in that respect.

I am gonna get beat up for something I didn't even do!!!

Kate - I believe that is true for some breeds but not all. I think the more domestic types have morals more related to chickens! I am totally okay being wrong on this...so feel free to inform me I am wrong! I want the pastel, a couple normal, and maybe the snow and a black and white or something along those lines...kinda depends on the boy/girl split!

ETA - I want like 6! There I made a decision...that gives Kate 4 and 4 for the person that isn't supposed to have any but apparently i talked them into it so now I am gonna get whuped! Sorry Monty we didn't save you any...In all reality I will take as many as there are! I am so in trouble...

A normal colored call duck (mallard colored) is called a grey.

You wont get beat up... LOl. He is trying to tell me I have to build the pens myself if I get any ducks.... It wont last long. He will let me have them. Ive already convinced him that since they are small they will make a smaller mess. I think he is bending to the idea.... wont be long now and I will have ducks.

Steph,

Get ready for some noise. They call them "Call" ducks for a reason. The female's voice carries a long ways.

Back in the days of market hunting, they were kept as living decoys to draw wild ducks into the range of the gunners. They were bred down to their smaller size because they are easier and cheaper to keep. They are beautiful birds. As cute as a baby holding a puppy.
