Bought a trio of barred rock bantams several months back, picked them up at the post office.

when "started" birds are shipped, do they put something in with them to keep them hydrated, like that gel stuff or a few apples?

No I don't have a fever & can touch my chin to my chest. I do have knots across my shoulders & could use a back rub!

Sounds like a classic tension headache. Maybe a hot shower and rolling a bottle or can across your shoulders would help - along with some tylenol and ibuprophen and a little bit of caffeine. (Excederin has tylenol, aspirin and caffeine in it)

Thanks P&B, I have been using some muscle rub stuff that helps some. You are very nice to help! I always love reading your advice & think I will go find my pillow!

Night all

By the way someone had ducks & rabits listed on the Tulsa Craigs list.

Do you have some medicine for the migraine and some ice for the ankle?

Thank you for your concern.

I thought I had some Excedrine Sinus, but I can't find it. I know I bought some at Thanksgiving because we were on our way to dinner when I purchased it. I took some Advil and am just going to go to bed and try to sleep it off. I'm allergic to the new puppy and she is a house dog. I have been forgetting to take my allergy pills, so it is kicking my butt now. I realized what the problem was today at work. I was bending over and then standing back up repeatedly while moving some old files and it suddenly hit me (in the form of a really bad migraine spell in the store room, about fell over and passed out.)

I don't have a clue what I did to my ankle. It isn't swelling, but it feels sprained or twisted. I didn't put any ice on it because of the lack of swelling. I decided to try a hot soak and it helped some. I'm hoping the heated bed will help even more. If nothing else, I'll be in lala land and not care at all.

the one on the right looks like a pullet to me. The chickens know what they are before I can tell. I can tell which are roosters at a young age before they even start getting good tail feathers, if they puff up their hackles and start squaring off with each other. Otherwise, I have to wait until they start crowing to be certain a bird is a rooster. Sometimes when I am not sure about the gender of young turkeys, I will watch how my tom interacts with the young ones through a chain link fence and that gives me a good idea of the young one's gender.
Since Barney is dancing for CT and not raising his hackles like the fur on a lion, he probably knows she is of the female variety.

By All Means Let Me Have It....

Is he positive that they are Mallard, or could they be Rouen. If he had Rouen, I would definitely jump on that!

P.S. thanks for the well wishes. The migraine is a side effect of my allergies and the ankle should be fine by morning.

Yah i ment Rouen but didnt no how to spell it. He has lots of runners an kakiecambles they are all most all hens he was saleing eggs. An some modern game bantums.

No PnB, I think you feed and water them up real good then rush them to the post office. Think mine took less than 2 days to get here from Texas.

What will frost bite do to my bantams comb? Will it grow back? He got a pretty bad case of the frost bite on his pretty comband im worried my daughter cant show him now, she still gots two good looking pullets and I can still use him for breeding but im hoping his comb will be ok.

Good evening everone! Looks like a bunch of you have headaches.... Stay over there, Im already dealing with a viral infection the boys brought home.

P&B - yes, we settle who was picking up the ducks, ME, I think I will pick out the four i get and hide them So nobody sees the colors.... Just kidding.

I am always trying to find a better way to prepare rabbit, so the meat isn't dry or tough. Do you have any suggestions? I have just been cooking the tenderloins because I can't seem to get the rest of the rabbit tender. I have tried letting the meat "rest" for two days in the refrigerator after butchering and have tried it baked (good flavor but a little dry) and tried marinating it (probably works the best but haven't found a marinade that hubby likes) The tenderloin I just cut into circles, brown and then turn it into rabbit alfredo or something similar.

Marybeth.....my mom used to season, flour and then brown in veg. oil until right at done. Then she would put it in a baking dish, cover it and put a very small amount of water in the bottom of the dish. Then bake it slow for about an hour. It was so tender and moist. We loved it.
