Calling all incubator/brooder guru's!!
I have a booth to set up March the 10th for the Kid, Kows and more here in Ottawa County. I have the county's big hatcher/brooder.
I tried to get the temps regulated last fall with Al's help through email and over the phone but I couldn't get them stable. No by any fault of Al it was all the blonde on this end.
So now I am begging for help AGAIN!! Could someone please help me fix this thing so I can have it for March the 10th and then use it through out the year for other expo's for the kids! I will even be willing to deliver it.

Morning all :

How are all my fine friends this lovely foggy morn.

I had a good time last night at the Fletcher sale barn and was very happy indeed to see a pretty decent crowd there. I think as Jim does that they may have turned the corner and are doing their part on gethering up their market share of the poultry folks

. Steph & Carl were there and it's always nice to visit with them, I finaly bought Jim that Hot dog I had promised him and he was so excited he promptly drop it right to the ground

LOL. That young apprentice Jim brought to the auction seemed like a nice young man and I wish him luck on his future Pastured Broiler Business. Jer-man/Jerry was there, I didn't know if he had a bid number this time but I still offered mine to him anyway LOL. Michael sure does seem to have a great time at these auctions he is in his element at the sale barn, He always has a smile and a handshake for any BYCer that show.

Renia & Doc : I have to say I liked watching Dakota help out at the bid table

, he is a natural LOL. The crowd seemed good for Y'all and I was happy to see it start to work for you guy's, A little networking goes a long way, so count me in as a regular from now on, and if you ever need any help during the auction just holler at me and I will be happy to lend a hand. I agree with you on keeping your eyes peeled for a new auctioneer, Being able to ID birds and breeds and paying attention to details goes along way in bringing better prices for everybody. These poultry folks are a decerning bunch, A good auctioneer can really bring in some good buyers & sellers not to mention better stock, just sayin.

Stimpy : are all those eggs you are setting all WR stock ??, if so your holding out on me boy !!!!! LOL. My incubator has cobwebs on it for pete sake !!!!!, I need some eggs to hatch I am getting bored not having yun uns to raise up.

Saw Al there, of course, and Mike D. Met the Jer-man. I looked for you guys and for faery but obviously y'all didn't make it. There were probably others there, and I recognized some folks from other auctions, but I don't know what everyone here looks like so if I missed saying hello, I'm sorry.

Met up with a friend of mine, the guy who just got back from his apprenticeship at Polyface farm in Virginia. He couldn't believe the cheap prices and bought a bunch of stuff. He had a good time visiting with Mike and Al, I could tell. He is a very enthusiastic fellow. He seemed pleased with the RIR rooster I gave him. A real beauty of a bird.

He is going to be ordering 600 broiler in April, so he is getting them at a great price ($1.25 each) and offered to let me in on the deal. I'll be ordering between 25 and 50 for my meat bird experiment (to raise them simultaneously with my DC chicks and some Freedom Rangers). He said others in the area are welcome to jump on board, as well. So, if you want to try your hand at raising Cornish X meat birds, here's your chance to get them at a great price. Just let me know and I will tell you how to contact him.

Oh, and I bought an "antique" Singer sewing machine during Al's favorite part of the auction

It is actually a latter day copy of one of those turn of the century foot pump things. I bought it for a friend who I know is looking for one, but after she saw it, my dear wife claimed it for herself. We like manually operated stuff.

Jason was up and busy working on the pantry which turned into another run to home depot after he saw the "wiring" job for the light switch... it was all topsy turvy on the 2 light switches he wanted to fix it proper when the darn thing just broke into a bunch of tiny pieces(very old)... so it halted our wall job and we went up town to get a new light switch box ect... we were up town for a while long after the Auction had started... Pretty much I think for us until we get our "projects" done we wont be able to attend a auction any time soon... although we are making progress..

That is so neat you were able to get a old sewing machine, I am a sucker for antiques and like you dont mind manual work to make things work especially with this house not having enough outlets and the wiring needs to be updated. When my late grandfather died almost 2 years ago(he was 100) I was able to salvage an old wooden single ladder(ones you have to lean it on something), I was even able to salvage an old door from his place and its currently the Hen House Door.. anyhow enough of my Antique Road show.. ha ha

We are going to be ordering a few meat chicks from Ideal as part of the order Muesky is doing... I think we are good on that for now so thanks anyways.

Morning all! It is time to start operation lockdown today!!! I have started on my new brooder but gotta get it finished if I dont the DW isnt to happy about them going into the kids bathtub hope everyone has a great day!!!!
