Once we got home with both birds, all I could hear was Jason and the kids hoooing and awwing over something and I was like what is it... Jason was like that ROOSTER is not only the beautifulest thing he ever saw but it was HUGE....

Bigger than our Fat Cat Sir Lancelot and our little dog Dixie... in fact Dixie who is the momma to all our chickens was afraid of it. Right Now Jason is coming up with a name for him...

But we did come up with a name for the lil guy:

So all my fine Okie friends I want to cordially introduce you to SIR EDWARD SCISSOR BEAK

We finally got rid of the two ugliest roosters I've ever seen. Last friday night when we went to Alex, we took both of them praying that someone would have pity on them and take them home. Finally, someone gave a dollar for them and I jumped with joy. There for a while I thought I was going to have to pay them to take them home. WHEW.

Don't mean to hurt your feelings Sir Scissor Beak, you kinda looks like something pre-historic.

I was hoping to introduce Him once we named him but I guess I could go ahead and do it

OH MY GOSH! Cold man Winter set back in.... It is 39 degrees right now and we just came back in from feeding all the critters outside... I was so froze that I almost dropped my coffee cup and I spilled all my coffee...

Now thats not a good way to start a day. Good thing there was another pot made when I got back inside.

You probably got there a little late, then. Chicks sell early, right after most of the equipment (although that can be interspersed throughout the night depending on Jerry's instincts) and eggs.

But there haven't been a lot of chicks in general. It isn't quite the season yet for most people, I don't think. Spring and summer there will be lots of them.

Never hard to find someone to get you in trouble around here.

I use to have a problem with NN but have since got use to them.....Don't know that I will ever own them but I never say never. Silkie are so neat. Got some of them at the spring POOPS, Theyare great....

Morning everyone.

Yea now we have 2 Naked Necks and 1 Silkie and a few more other misfit chickens outside from our normal flock( RIR and BR).. I am going to be working on making a separate mini coop for the "misfits we adopt" to separate them from our working girls and guys plus we dont want to lose sight of the main goal as I stated before in a previous post and that is independence to where we raise our own food, anything we are blessed with extra(eggs) outside of what my family consumes I will try and sell not really for a get rich profit scheme but mainly to help with feed costs and the conservancy of some breeds as in the turkeys we are raising....
