Usually the wiring in a trailer runs overhead. Start pulling plug-ins and light fixtures and look for the one that is charred. They will often use the plug-ins for connectors by plugging into the back of them and it is better to do a connection and then branch off for the plug in. And if you find you have Aluminum wiring plan on a re-wire as it is unsafe when it gets age on it.

Field mice/rats and squirrels (all rodents) are notorious for chewing on wires. If they have gotten into the under side of the trailer, they can cause a ton of damage.
You will need to check all breakers to ensure power is getting to and thru,
check the breaker to ensure it is functional
check the outlet to ensure the wires didn't come loose on the back-side of the receptacle
check under the house for chewed wires

If there is anything I can help with on this problem, let me know.

Beth there are some calves on Craig's List in Jones. The pricing for them is about right and they are already started on grass and grain.

What breed of calves are you looking to buy?

? not sure.. My older daughter is in 4h and my middle daughter fell in love in love with the chickens and the cows. WE have and still are doing chickens but she wanted two cows for Christmas. A milking cow and a eaten cow. She didnt get either one to cold. Her birthday is next month. Top of her idea list are calves. Then a bator ( been told this can take over our life so trying not to do this yet) turkey pen, another turkey, and chicks maybe a ds.
I have about 13 acres 5-9 of that is good pasture. Neighbors have had cows so I feel like I have some back up if I need it. She wants to sale it or eat it... She tells me I can not keep it for a pet... ;o)

After you check the breakers, of course.

You are absolutely correct. Aluminum wiring is horrible. Replace it asap.

After reading all the wonderful posts about the Blanchard auction, I'm going to make an extra effort to attend the next one.

I want to extend a big Thank You to Quenston and Maribeth. Q- the Faverolles hens are lovely. Maribeth, the rooster exceeds all expectations. He's going to produce some amazing chicks this season. I had planned for him to be my backup, but now I'm thinking last year's rooster will have to sit on the bench.

Everyone needs to post pictures and tell stories for the next couple of days. Maybe the BYC section of the auction house will fill 6 tables next time.

Thanks!

John pointed out the incubator but I never did see it auctioned. I may have gotten up to go to the concession stand when it was sold. That's okay. I really like the one I made and I didn't have to put much more money into it. I can see in very well too. It's holding the temp within 1 degree and that's with a more than a 30 degree difference in the house temp and inside temp. (I didn't like my last electric bill so I put myself on restriction.)

I think with it holding 72 eggs I can hatch more birds than I can afford to feed.

Sherri, if you didn't see the incubator auctioned, another possibility is that there wasn't enough interest and the buyer POed it....
Anyway, I would trust your incubator just as much (or more than) that used incubator. Plus yours did not even cost much! You and Al should go into the 'bator buildin' business
