Going through the checklist in case we lose power.
1) run garbage disposal so the kitchen won't smell
2) run dishwasher so the dishes will be be clean and we won't have to use plastic spoons
3) get laundry done
4) check out supply of batteries for the flashlights we have - have lots AA and not enough D or AAA - Sam's was out of size D and I didn't realize so many flashlights use AAA
5) shovels are within reach where they won't require sloshing through snow or ice to get them
6) all animals have extra food and full water dishes
7) supplies are laid in for poultry, rabbits, big animals, cats and dog
8) cell phone has a full charge
9) extra gloves and hats are located
10) plenty of food that can be eaten cold or cooked on the grill
11) manual can opener is handy
12) propane for grill is full and grill is repaired
13) all vehicles have full tanks of gas
14) have cans of gas for the generator
14) truck has snow chains on front wheels in case of emergency (better to put them on and not need them than be putting them on in freezing weather)
What have you done to get ready that I might have forgotten? (I am still hoping that the warm weather today will have the effect of pulling some bite out of the winter storm)
