I have a couple of questions regarding dogs and such.

I'm going to be in city limits on 3 acres and I have like 4 homes kind of around me. (like a .25 mile street with 4 homes)

Can I discharge a gun to protect my birds from dogs and predators?

And I couldn't even shoot a chicken hawk if it was taking my little chihuahua could I?

Nothing but rain and cold here in S.E. Oklahoma. Caught about 20 fish today in a driving rain but sure had fun. If I do not post here anymore you may visit me via e-mail, just visit our website at www.garrettnest.com
Certainly have enjoyed visiting and meeting new friends.

Well we have ice and a lot of sleet here. It is worse down south.
Norman, Chickasha, Purcell have had ice damage and power outages.
Power is out down south too.
The weather genius said that if OKC can hold out for another two hours we should be out of the biggest threat for power outage.

Glad you haven't got any yet. Hopefully it won't be bad up your way.
I think Al, and BS are out of power too.

When we lived in Owasso on 2 1/2 acres the local sheriff told us to shoot bothersome strays, but to be sure all four paws were on our property when we did it. I don't know what the rules are, but that's what he told us. Call your local sheriff's office. They'll know what's allowed.

We're on 80 acres nearly 11 miles south of the nearest town (tiny place that it is), and so far we've never had a visit from anyone asking why they heard a gunshot. We frequently hear shots north of our place, where there are more trees, and I've assumed someone is shooting coyotes. I see three or four coyotes every single day, in broad daylight, so I'm thinking there are hundreds of them that we never see. Now that we've got a stray dog problem, I'm sure I'll be discharging a gun this weekend. DH is still traveling for work, but that's probably a good thing. He's a better shot than I am, but he's not one to aim at a dog, even if it has killed three of our birds. I never thought I'd want to shoot a dog, either, but this current attack has awakened an anger and frustration I don't recognize in myself. I want these dogs gone. I don't want them to kill any more of my birds.

I would have said what Grace's Dad said but...I didn't know that

I knew I should have listened better in chemistry...but they used big words real fast

southernborn - Shooting of the predatory birds is greatly frowned upon by big brother...shooting of guns in town depends on the town...most little towns will tend to understand if it is a shotgun...large calibur rifles really scare folks...

AnnaBell would like that. Maybe he can even paint it a pretty color. If you decide to go that route, let us know how it turns out.

I will... Thinking the old princess pink and purple to make it more girl like you know?
Thought I would hear the details from him by now, maybe his power or internet is off...

Thanks Teach,

But I think the 361 miles from your place to mine is a little much.

depends...got a male duck or bantam malay roos?...never underestimate how far I will go for birds! I have shown-up at Blanchard because i was in the neighborhood and thought i would drop in!

Still have power, but it's cold in the kitchen. So dinner is in the oven, and using the oven heat to warm up the kitchen. I may even prep bread through the first proof then freeze it. Just because, of course.

Good evening all..... We still have power and things seem to be ok here.. Birds are still up and moving and appear to be doing great. We have one small problem, one of our pens collapsed on one side due to the weight of the ice, birds in there are fine and still have plenty of room to move. We are leaving it until tomorrow to fix.

I wish I had the birds you're looking for, but we don't have any domesticated ducks at all. Wild ducks use our pond year round, but there's no way I'm checking to see which ones are male. Sorry, but no bantam Malay roos either. All my birds are standard.
