Couldn't wait any longer we had to candle our eggs we got this weekend. Although the veining is still small we can see it for sure developing in about 10 of the 12 for the Porcelain D'Uccles, a lot of the Cochin eggs we got from Steph, and a few of the RIR from the auction. I am hoping I just couldn't see all the veining with the RIR because of their darker shells, but I am not sure. I guess I will just have to wait and see and keep
So far the bator has not done its problem again and is keeping the temp. I hope it was just one time deal and continues to work through this hatch. I checked the wiring to make sure nothing was loose and didn't notice anything weird. However, I have been really thinking about making a new one. I am too addicted to hatching now I can't turn back.
Of course, my hubby is going
more chickens. Although, secretly I think he likes them too. Just don't tell him I told you guys so. I think he has a reputation he has to keep or something. So I was out in the barn doing some cleaning, bcs his parents left lots of junk stored out there in some of the rooms. I found an old electric skillet and I got to thinking maybe this could be used for the heating element of the new bator I would like to try and build. Does anybody know anything about this, Al do you have any recommendations and could this work? I am not sure, but it seems like I read a while back somewhere that some people have used electric griddles/skillets to hatch eggs.

You would get along well with my mom, she loves the edges and wants all the corners. The corners are her favorite, as kids we weren't allowed to have the corners, but could have all the middle we wanted.
