Okies in the BYC The Original

We've gotten lucky so far. Ground is all white and the trees and shrubs are covered with about 1/4" of ice. Vashi was just out to chip the ice off the wild bird feeders and said it is very slippery. A mob of them were trying hard to get seed with no success. Even the squirrels were unable to eat. I haven't been out to feed the poultry yet, but Vashi got me a pair of those things with cleats that you attach to your boots, so should be OK.

Snow is upposed to start around noon, I thought, but it is snowing very lightly now. Some of the trees are bending low now, so hope the snow isn't a wet one.

My computer has a battery backup, but I just went ahead and shut it down. I may need that battery if the power is out for long. I have USB cables for all the cell phones and can charge them with the computer.

Will the Cement show go on, or do they ever cancel these things? I've tried calling both Matthew and Jason Glass but don't get an answer. I hear from the TV that the roads in that area are closed due to down power lines. I'm about ready to "chicken" out. I don't like driving down strange country roads in the dark and on ice. What is everyone else going to do?

I texted my boss before I even got in the shower. If he had said stay home I would of went back to bed! Hope she is home safe & sound now.

White stuff? What white stuff?

Haven't been outside yet, but Hubby says the white stuff that is covering the ground is sleet rather than snow. Anyone driving by the house sounds like they are driving on gravel, rather than on the paved road it is.

Remember, this is the group with a bunch of hatching addicts. I suspect that if the incubator works and is a good value, you will find someone in this group who wants to buy it. (not me, I already have a generic sportsman style incubator and several Hovabators - and I am trying to kick or at least "manage my habit

How big are they?
Just askin cause I am not an addict like some people.

Monty and Stephanie,
What do you have cooking for lunch? I started a crockpot of chicken broth, chicken, corn and green beans and am trying to decide whether it needs wide egg noodles, dumplings or maybe cream gravy mix and then serve it over something. Any suggestions?

Small dumplings... and a side of gravy. We havent started lunch, we usually do more of a brunch with breakfast foods, so probably eggs biscuits and gravy and sausage.

I have had a shower, now if I can just move. My back has been hendering my movement since yesterday leaving Carl to deal with the chickens almost by himself. I dont know what I have done but I cant bend over or stand up straight. Tried getting on the inversion table yesterday and that didnt help. I am bad enough that the kids are trying to keep me from moving. Think I am going to take advantage of the fact that the roads are not clear enough to drive and have a few drinks this afternoon, maybe it will loosen my back enough to relieve the pain. I have tried the table, ice, heat, maybe alcohol is the trick.

anytime kids try to keep mom from moving around, it is obvious that mom is in pain. Hope it is better soon.
thanks for the suggestions on lunch. I think hubby is getting tired of the same stuff so I am trying to be more inovative.
