Thought I would try to brighten everyone's icy cold drizzly day with some chick pics!! These are the first chicks I've gotten out of Scooter, my BB Red rooster, and his hens.

that is a lot of ice on the trees
y'all are wonderful to be helping the neighbors keep their homes warm.
Would it be practical for the neighbors to just move in with you for a few days, or do they have livestock to take care of also.

Jason and I tried to insist they come over and keep warm until we can warm their home up but the one couple is elderly and the wife is not good health wise so I think she is more comfortable being in her home even though its chilly... So Jason and I are trying what we can to heat up our home and then get the generator moved over to the other two couples that need it to help heat their place up...

I dont know if we are all that wonderful as it is to know that one must always help a neighbor in need no matter how great or how small... Just the way I was raised despite hardships myself as a child ... Besides I know how much the good Lord has blessed my life and been there for me its the least I/we can do

Doesnt matter... With all the world has to offer today( violence), there are still good people out there that are willing to lend a hand. You dont find that anymore. I wasnt raised real religous, but we were raised to believe in God. We dont go to church or any of that but I have taught my children there is a God and to believe. And alot of people these days wouldn't lend a hand if they could. We have an open house for discussion. My 17 year old step daughter was questioning God the other day( and her grandparents on her mother's side a very religious. Like I told her there are some things you cant explain and other times you just feel you are comforted for no reason. When you fell like you are alone and somebody is there for you, sometimes it is all the proof you need. Now keep in mind I am not a religous person, but I still believe in god.

I'm gonna break up the weather talks for a second.

Max is gonna be back soon (ownership hearing set for Feb. 8th). The place he's gonna be staying at is near me in Arkansas. I'm needing to purchase some hay to help supplement his grain feed so I'm looking for some hay. Even last year's hay will work, I'm just needing some forage for him.

If you happen to have some hay that you'd be willing to sell, please let me know how much you're wanting. Feb. 8 is the earliest I can purchase it (that's the day I'll know he'll be coming back) and I'd "prefer" for it to be around the Claremore, OK area.

Heyyyyy Okies! We are well here in Piedmont...LOTS of snow--snowing so hard we can't see the trees on our driveway! Our chickens have fared well, the little heater we are using works perfectly. It's hung from a 2x4 in the coop and wired so that is is suspended from the ceiling. Keeps it out of the litter. We planned ahead and got treats for the chickens to have ---a cabbage and apples too--something for them to peck at (instead of being crabby to each other). Our heated dog water bowls are also working flawlessly for the chickens.

We were planning on going to the Cement show to visit with everyone but glad they cancelled it. I don't want to go ANYWHERE right now. Being home on a Friday is a real treat--even with the snow and ice. Makes me really grateful for my Yak-Trax so I can wander around out there without fear of falling.

Well, about 12:00PM yesterday, it started raining. By 2 PM it was sleeting. By 8 PM, everything was white with sleet. There was freezing rain at 9AM this morning. I tried to make it to work, gave up when I ran the stop sign.

Now it's snowing HUGE flakes!

We've got about a 1/2" of ice on our cars. Trees aren't as bowed over as last year though. It's gorgeous outside!

The snow is coming down pretty thick... J is at work, those darned DOD cops don't get a day off for bad weather
lol.png
Wandered out to feed the chickens and had to bring a hand trowel with me... the ice had cemented the door of the coop to the coop itself and I had to pry it apart. Found a bag of freezer burned spinach in the freezer, so I thawed it and mixed it with their mash, they were VERY happy with that.

Just checking in.......Trees are really heavy with ice, but
we haven't lost power. Is snowing pretty hard now.
They're still saying we'll end up with up to 6" of snow
through here.

Grace and Dandelion - Saw on the news this morning
that you guys would get ice down your way today.
Take care.

Stephanie - Take care. Hope you get to feeling
better soon. If your back hurts, everything
else hurts !

Would'a made a video..... We have two young barn
cats, about 10 mos old, a tom kitty and a girl kitty.
The tom is a mousing idiot and the female could
care less. She'll take one if Bill hands it to her.
Bill moved a waterer and about 4 little mice came
out from under it. The tom kitty killed 3 of them and
was just playing with the 4th. It got away from
him and he whirled around looking for it. The
stupid girl kitty was just sitting there watching
him. He thought she had taken it and whipped
the fire out of her !!!!!! Bill is still laughing............

Saw a truck coming past here sideways down
the highway after topping the hill north of us
earlier. The snow plow just went by, so guess
the snow is really collecting up on the roads.
Glad we ain't going anywhere for the duration.

Have a good one !
