Hilarious, isn't it? I did kinda lord it over him that I'd suggested 3 weeks ago to cross-train a payment processor in the system and he shot me down. I did warn him that something like this would happen.

Teach, my sisters are 5'6" and 5'7". I've flattened both of them on several occasions (and they are older than me). Everybody in my family says that I am the mean one.

I have never been able to break a dog from killing chickens. I hope someone else can give you some advice.

Maybe you could just rent one for a few days. I think that feeding an elephant for a week would cost as much as it costs to feed all my critters (and I have plenty) for several months. I wonder if Elephants will eat Bermuda grass?

i wouldnt care how much it would cost i think it would be cool, they are a very docile creature but one of the strongest in the world, i ride one every year at medievil fair in norman have only missed 2 yrs in 20 yrs.

Wow... this takes the cake! Although I did have to explain to the boss once that he actually had to LOG IN to the system to USE it.

Packing quilts and lots of them. Should insulate the freezer very well. When we lost power for a week we wrapped our upright in all the spare quilts we had and it did not as much as defrost for the week the power was out and the house was kept at close to 80 deg. with a wood stove.

I dont know.... labs are really playful dogs, the fact that he isnt eating them probably means he is trying to play with them. We have a rott and he is great with the birds, in fact he thinks they are his birds. But when we first got chickens he killed one, just one, and we beat him with that chicken, scolded him and put him in bed for the day(he is an inside outside dog with a dog crate for his bed). He didnt look at the chickens for 2 weeks. Now he gaurds them, nothing is allowed to touch them birds and any new dog we get he trains them not to touch the birds.

There was a really good article on training dogs with chickens a few weeks ago. I will try and find it for you. For the time being, you should assume the dog isn't trustworthy around the birds and not let him near them unsupervised. I have a Great Pyraneese that I obtained as an adult. She sleeps in the chicken coop and I have never had any problems with her chasing chickens. A Great Pyraneese I acquired as a puppy had to be rehomed to a non-poultry home after he got too excited when rounding up the chickens and started licking them to death.

A lab has instincts to retrieve birds so the dog has some internal conflict between the guardian nature of a Great Pyraneese and the bird retrieval instincts of a Labrador.

It will be May 15th or 29th (tenitive). They are checking with another club to see if they want to join ours to make it a double (somehow that makes is a quad???) The initials are ARBA. I will let you know more when I do.

If you travel this far you have to bring honey! LOL.

I wasn't able to break 2 dogs from killing chickens. Now I have a terrier mix that will get them if they get out of the coop (they are in a coop all the time, with a run). I have to figure out a way to deter her, otherwise I'll be re-homing a 3rd dog. Unfortunately, this one is my daughter's puppy, not one of mine... which makes it that much worse.
