EE chicks are some of my favorites, with their chubby cheek feathers.

I call those tiny first eggs - "practice eggs"

i have never seen one that small... she's the first one to do that- even the banties first eggs are bigger- wish there was a way to preserve it- i was laughing so hard!

We have three of those 'pratice eggs" that we let dry out. Madison takes them with her to school to show ect.

I dehydrate the eggs that I think are unique - put them in a cardboard egg carton or even an open dish in the back of the refrigerator. Sooner may have a faster way to dehydrate them, I usually leave them in the frig for about a year. The yolk dries up - sometimes you can hear it rattle if you shake the egg.

One of these days you are going to hear POP when you do that, followed by a wicked stench that even Calgon won't take away!!!

Gee Stimp I am sorry about the loss. Its bad enough to loose one but to loose the babys is really tuff. Give the wife a hug for us. don't know why we always let ourselves get so attached to them but they always manage to wiggle under our skin and then its he-- when we lose them.

Sooner I think we need to rename this the Okie Underground Chicken Train! We smuggle more chickens around the state than they did slaves back in the civil war days!Either that or The Chicken Express rather than the pony express!lol:lau:clap

While we are trying to assist Teach in choosing an appropriate description for his Golden Feather membership, we need to assist Stimp as well. For Stimp I have the following suggestions:
1) Semper Fi
2) White cornish ~ rock
3) Always building pens
4) White IS a color of chicken
5) Teddy Bear at heart
6) Just sayin...
7) Always talking about chickens
8) quips may be a choking hazard

The maran eggs from the Blanchard auction a few weeks ago are in the hatcher, along with a few quail eggs that I don't recall when I started. We will see what happens. All the other eggs from that incubator have been moved to the Sportsman. I need to make some notes on when to transfer them to the hatcher - and need to check in the morning to see if I restarted the the turner after I loaded the eggs.
