Okla - if someone asks for your name do you have to give it to them?..... I only ask because i find it odd that he followed her home and waited and then wouldnt give her a name.... there are so many weirdos out there that impersonate cops.

What kind of chickens are you guys looking for
before the spring hatching season hits full force?

What pieces are missing from your "Chicken World Puzzle?"

Throw it out here on the board.
Maybe someone can help you find what you are wanting
or take what you want to sell or trade.

You know this is what I have thought about Okies! No offense! Especially this morning when I was on the highway on my way over to Stillwater to watch a friend's baby for her. I got behind this really slow okie going 30 MPH on the highway, where it was 65. Oh and the other night I was behind a deputy that was going 40-45 MPH on the highway. He was in front of the car that was in front of me. I started to pass, but decided not to when I saw him. Drove all the way to Cleveland going 45 MPH when we should have been going 65. Then when we got to town, he pulled over let the other guy pass by then got behind me and road my bumper all the way home. Then he sat at the end of the driveway for over 10 minutes before driving up my drive. Once he did that I asked if he had a problem and why he was being so rude to drive right on my tail. Geeeessh! I don't normally give a cop an earful, but I did this one, because what he was doing was harassment. The sad thing is this is not the first time this sort of thing has happened to me. I don't have to be speeding or nothing for a cop to turn around and follow me home in Cleveland. He said he followed me home, because he saw me start to pass. I tried to ask his name several times and he ignored me and would not tell me his name. I finally got my husband involved and he shooed him away. Darn bored small town okie cops.

The same thing could happen, and I am sure does happen anywhere. Not just in Oklahoma.

I am glad though that you didn't have to deal with any more than that and that your DH was able to handle things.

Yes I am sure you are right. It has just never happened to me other than in Oklahoma and really just Cleveland. I have been all over this country and this is the only place where it has happened to me, and we aren't talking about once either. For a while after when we first bought our house here, every time a cop saw me they followed me and very closely. They have even been going the opposite direction and turn around and pass all the other cars to get behind me and will tail me for a while before they turn back around. My mom thought I was making it up until she came to visit. We were driving back from Tulsa and just gotten on the highway for Cleveland off of the turnpike and I saw a cop. I wasn't speeding at all, I said 'oh no' my mom said 'What?'. I said, 'here comes a cop' she said 'so', I said 'watch he is going to turn around and follow us home', she said 'no he won't you aren't speeding or doing anything wrong'. I said 'I know mom, but he will'. Then he turned around and did just that. My mom couldn't believe it and just told me to keep going the speed limit. My father was a police officer and this kind of behavior is not suppose to be tolerated, because it is harassment, but they do it anyway. That cop followed us all the way home and then drove by our house a couple times afterwards. My mom was about to call the Sheriff and give them a piece of her mind.

No law on the books says you have to that I know of. He was probley running checks on the tags and wants and warrants and was waiting on a return. When someone does something a little suspicious and then gets an attitude then they can usually be assured they will be watched a little closer there after. Sounds like this may be the case here. The public doesn't always know what information about crimesthat are occurring, or has been involved with in the hours before a stop, something may have made him decide he needed to check this out a little closer. And when the person gets an immediate attitude there is a 50/50 chance it is a cover distraction.

Oklahoma Police do not get paid enough... !! teachers either !
Brother in law in Cali makes $125,000 a year and dont get me started
on what he gets when he retires!! Teachers their also get paid better...

This was just the other night. It has not happened since. The other occasions I never spoke with them, just have thought it to be really weird. I was upset with him mostly because he was following so closely I couldn't see the front of his car, with my young daughter in the car with me. Now that is illegal, we have all learned in drivers education that you should be three seconds behind a vehicle when driving down the road. This was complete harassment, he did not have any cause to follow me home several miles in this manner or at all for that matter. I did nothing suspicious or wrong. It wasn't that I got an attitude, he was in the wrong and should not have been following me home like this. Now yes, when asked who he was he is to identify who he is. Do you remember a few years ago when there murder/rapist who were posing as police officers and pulling people over only to rape these women and kill them? If I ask he is suppose to reveal his identity and if I ask he is also suppose to give me his badge number. If even a police officer is doing something wrong, just as this one was I am going to tell them when it affects me or my family's safety, that is not attitude. If the police officer does not believe he is doing anything wrong then there should be no reason on earth why they will not disclose their name or badge number, by neglecting to reveal this information just makes me more suspicious and he should be the one investigated.

Yes Kate, in Oklahoma, if you are stopped by a cop you have every right to ask for his identification. He should show you his state issued law enforcement ID card with his picture, his name and his badge number on it. If he refuses, take off and lay on your horn, flash your lights, whatever you have to do to attract attention to yourself. I recommend that you drive as fast as you can to the nearest police station. If you have your phone with you, use the 911 option, that's what it's there for. There are a bunch of pervs out there pretending to be cops.
