Chuck I am so glad you all made it out and BJ is going to be ok. My thoughts are with you and yours. Once you get settled please do not hesitate to post items you and your family needs.

I think that would be ok to do that on this board, right?

This is a really difficult time for you and your family but just know we are family as well and will help you all we can.

At last a question that I can do well with!! Robin gravel weighs about 2700lbs per cubic yard of material. dry sand weighs about 3200lbs. per yard.

Lets say that your run is 10'x100' and you want to put 6 inches of sand in it. Ok length times width is 1000 sq feet but it is also 1000 cubic feet. But you only want half of the depth, 6in so you would divide that by 2 or 500 cubic feet. To convet the cubic feet to cubic yards divide the 500 by 27, the number of cubic feet in one cubic yard, which is 18.51.

Take the 18.51 cubic yards and take that times 3200 which is what 1 yard of sand weighs and then divide by 2000 to get the tons needed. You would need 29.61 tons of sand

I tried to figure this out and failed. I assumed that you would need 2 inches of sand with a 30x40 area and somehow I got that you needed 2200 TONS of sand. I don't know where I went wrong!

Ok a 30x40 would be 1200 square or even cubic feet but you want to spread 2 inches or 1/6th of a foot so you would divide the 1200 by 6 or 200 cubic feet needed.

Take the 200 and divide by 27 which is the number of feet in a cubic yard. So you would need 7.4 cubic yards of material. Take the 7.4 times the pounds per yard or 3200 for sand which is 23680 pounds. divide that by 2000 to get the tons or 11.84 tons.

Barnswallow is beating down our door, you had better get everyone here on time. I don't know if I can keep the wolves away from the front door.

Every weekend I have available, I will be available for you too. The Army doesn't let me have all weekends.

I have a little truck and a little tractor with a front-end loader.

I'd like to go, but alas will have to work that night. We will be screening the film Food Inc at the library, and seeings it's my program, I should probably be there.

BYC folks....I just talked to BigOkie and they have lost absolutely EVERYTHING they owned. He lost ALL his chicks that he just hatched, his bator, dozens of eggs, all the cash they had... (just got their income tax in)...literally everything except the underwear he had on.

He couldn't get to his kids because the fire had him cut off from them in the middle of the house so he ran out the door and broke a window out to get the boys out. They had some cuts that needed stitches and burns that are serious and getting treatment for them, but at least they're alive. Praise God.

He went over to a friends house to post on here and he sent me a message with a phone number of his daughters cell phone he will be using. They're very thankful that they are alive...but I can't even imagine having absolutely NOTHING....and they had NO INSURANCE, so no help there.

The Red Cross has given them 3 nights stay at a motel leaving them only one more night. He has a family member that is willing to give them an older trailer but he is having to fight the city on moving it in...they don't want anything older than 10 years old. Pray that they'll have a heart and change that for Chuck.

I know many of you have offered help for BigOkie and his family. Right now they have no place to put anything since they have no house. Does anyone have any idea what we can do to help them for now? I don't live but about an hour from him and will do what I can if someone has some suggestions.

we can all pool together some gift cards for them to use for either eatery or hotel stays....

What about an RV would someone have a decent size RV to let them stay in that they could use for temporary that is if the "city will let them?
