Wow though, I am really going to be pushing it. I hope that Char only has one game tomorrow, maybe we might make it on time then. Her asst coach told us last night there might be two.

Btw, I wouldn't recommend bothering to look at her word banks unless you already knew the words. Why? Because there's words from every chapter of the book in there to choose from, even though we're only testing over 4 chapters at a time. If you don't know the word from reading the definition, you might as well throw in the towel, because you were sunk.

Well, I agree they should have things like that exactly how your prof is doing it, but I just had never had a prof do it. I wish I did or do sometimes though, because seriously I might now the word but it escapes me under pressure and if I see it then it will trigger and be like oh yes that is it. Although, a trick I do use is looking at the rest of the test because sometimes there are hints to another problem in a different question.

Now it isn't necessarily like that in Math or Statistics, but when you are talking about history or science I have found a word or name I was trying to think of in another question. Some professors even do that on purpose.

ETA: Have you ever had a question on a test where you read the whole question, but then at the end or maybe the beginning it says do not answer this question, but otherwise they have it set up for you to answer it. I just heard about this the other day. I have never experienced it myself, but a guy at the store was telling me about it the other day. He said it is some sort of new technique to test your paying attention to detail skills or something. Still kind of strikes me as odd, but hey I wouldn't mind having a freebie.

it is really common in the intro classes especially for those out of major classes that are required...they just want to know if you can retain info!

Didn't never get one of them in a junior or senior level class! My nephew is currently taking Meats at Texas A&M from the same professor that I had. We were talking about it and I told him that he had better know a couple specific cuts of meat and the muscles and bones in them. He said those were the same ones his lab TA had told them about. the guy has been teaching awhile and uses the same tests. But you still gotta pull that info outta recall and fill in the blank...only in that class the words were like 25 letters! I have been known to label meat frm deer processing with the latin names...the wife rolls her eyes! then says you better write what it is used for!

It was an interesting little class experiment, and most of the ones who didn't answer it at first DID go back and answer it. There were 4 holdouts in a class of 30 students. I was the only female holdout, the other three were guys.
 
I have done it to highschoolers at the beginning of the year...makes them pay attention.

had an AP teacher give us a test that every answer was B...she wanted to make us pay attention to the question we were on and not second guessourselves...I didn't notice

I like the design in the test. That is a good idea, but then again if you know this you could possibly start to figure out what the design is suppose to look like once you get started and then just finish it with barely looking at the questions, but it is still neat idea. I like looking for patterns in things. I use patterns in numbers to remember things like phone numbers, I have little brain hints like if certain ones add up to another number like 10 or an interesting sequence. Yeah I am weird, oh wait my daddy always told me I am unique. LOL

I DO NOT LIKE STANDARDIZED TESTS! Just had to throw that out there, I just do not agree with the whole set up. Teachers really don't get to teach like you should because of them. So much pressure is put on the schools for them to do well on them for funding and such and the kids really don't get to learn everything I think they should get to learn in school, because the teachers have to waste so much time on teaching basically the test so that the students will do well. And most kids still don't really learn what is on those tests, maybe they might memorize what they are suppose to answer for the time being, but I don't really think they are getting to learn as much as they could if they had it set up differently. Now these are just my opinions, but then again there have been statistical studies that say the same thing.
