On the first page of this thread is a list of folks who have volunteered information in the past about their location. You might want to look over that list to see if anyone if from the Fairview area, since I can't recall anyone off the top of my head.

Are you from Fairview? That is a very pretty part of Oklahoma.

Wow thats alotta Okies! I asked about Fairview Okies to see if any one in Fairview or close by may have eating eggs they would donate to my Step Dad. He is undergoing treatment for Throat Cancer and eats soft scrambled eggs alot! Last time I went home I took him 30 eggs! Long since been eaten! He has lost 45 pounds and besides me calling him he is going through this alone! I would be willing to send a few bucks per dozen via pay pal if anyone could deliver him some eggs!
I am originally from Woodward. I have relatives all over OKlahoma...Ponca City, Stillwater, Fairview, Talequah, Vian, Salisaw, Woodward, Mooreland, Ft. Supply, hope I didnt miss any!

My mom has been done with her last treatment for 1 year!! It was bad.. She lives in california and I am here in Oklahoma. I flew back home for all surgerys and had many many a phone call put in to doctors. I dont know if you know about "skype" or not but its a free online video phone that you both can use to see each other and call each other over the internet for free.

I have heard of it...however my Dad doesnt have internet so we are reduced to the cell phones! I told him if I called and he couldnt talk then to be expecting a knock at the door from the local Police! Yes I will call them for a welfare check! Then he can hand them the phone and a note to tell them to call me if he isnt okay and I will get in my car and drive there! I am so sad he has to go through this! At least he quit smoking!

I think maybe you are. It was never meant as a criticism of either Al or Monty, or anyone else for that matter. Everyone appears to be doing a bang up job. It was a suggestion to a possible problem I thought Al was talking about in his post to which it was a response. That there are people who would be willing to take leadership rolls in the event or least to share in it. Al and Monty don't have to carry the entire leadership roll. Heck, our group even has a professional event organizer in its midst (it ain't me). More could be made of such talent if such was their desire. They could use the help. Unless I have misunderstood some private conversations, Al has intimated as much to me.

But all that aside, I still think it is time for the group to become more formalized. People are now being called "members" and "our group". Well, members of what? Group of what? There's nothing wrong with the suggestion about creating a real organization, with bylaws and officers and a board and the like. You made mention of a committee. Well, that's a start toward a more formal organization. Even churches have that, and there is nothing wrong with churches.

I'm not suggesting a change in leadership, or even suggesting there is anything wrong with the folks currently running things. Far from it. Al and Monty would likely be the president and vice president, switching those jobs back and forth for as long as they wanted. I doubt anyone else even wants the job, and couldn't do a better job if they did want it, or even get elected for that matter.

Me, I'm not going. Not necessarily because I don't want to, but because I would feel like I was imposing. I don't have time to volunteer or anything useful to donate, and so would feel like I was merely benefiting off the hard work of others without putting anything into it. I would feel like a moocher. I'm also not interested in ANY sort of leadership roll, if that is what people think I am suggesting. I was only suggest a possible solution to what I perceived to be a stated problem.

Monty and Al and volunteers, you guys are doing a great job. Sorry if I gave the impression I thought any differently.

Y'all have fun. Sorry if my comments were a downer. Memaw, sorry I disturbed you. I meant no harm.

It's been a long, intense day spent with a friend in the emergency room. I need some rest, so I'm turning in early. G'night.

Buster sorry if I took it the wrong way. And thank you for correcting me. I hope I didn't offend you...it was not my intent.

I just want to say that it takes A LARGE GROUP of people to be just the group, too. "leaders" are nothing with out a bunch of people. All types are in need. Some people have to just show up. If just Al, Monty and gang were their alone they woulnd't have any fun at all.

Sooner forgot to mention this in her post - but the committee does not think the only people who want to be informed are those who stay for the aftermeeting. Refer to the very last line in bold underline in Al's Schedule post quoted below. The committee putting POOPS together understands that everyone can't stay late for the aftermeeting, and as Al has said, "Minutes of that meeting will be posted online in our forum soon after POOPS." It is not anyone's intention to exclude anyOkie from putting in your two cents and being informed. I'm sure lots of people who are interested in learning more about helping put POOPS together may not be able to stay that late.

Everyone is welcome to come and have fun and meet people, eat, see birds/buy birds/sell birds, learn about bees, incubators, etc. - or just hang out with friendly people who share a common interest.

POOPS schedule - yippee!!

Food listing for POOPS 2010:

Hi everyone as you know P.O.O.P.S will be May 1st . There will be one meal this year. Most of the meat (thanks to our P.O.O.P.S fund from the fall) will be taken care of so we will be looking mainly for side dishes, deserts, casseroles, paper products, cutlery & drinks.

We will have limited outlets for crock pots if that is something you might be interested in, chicken & dumplings were a big hit along with that banana pudding. Keep in mind the number of people (aprox. 100) that will be attending when making your dish or dishes.

If you volunteer to bring drinks, paper products or cutlery please tell me the quantity you will bring, also the drinks will need to be on ice. I will also need 2 of the large drink coolers to make kool -aid & tea. We will also need BBQ Sauce & Ketchup.
